Project Overview
Clay Flowers is a short WLW story about Skylar the potter and Dawn the florist who are neighbouring shops in a bustling town. The story mainly revolves around how they met and the shenanigans they and their friends get themselves into. This is just a small passion project of mine to improve my writing and to generate more LGBTQIA+ media while giving opportunities for others to be involved in such projects! Open to all talent of varying skill levels, and definitely LGBTQIA+ friendly. As we are not getting funding for this and plan to make Clay Flowers free access for all, all work will be on a voluntary basis.

I need some writers to help me write and flesh out the story! I already have the main plot planned out, but I would love for others to be able to help work out finer details and help write out sections of the story as I am adapting my idea in a light novel style of work with Narration and Voice Acting.

A young potter who just started up a new business selling unique crafts after some of her pieces sold for an astronomically high price during an auction. She is absolutely brimming with life with a big personality and infectious laughter, making her an absolute joy to be around. Despite having a skilled hand and keen eye for details, she is extremely clumsy, and many describe her to be the biggest goofball ever. She specialises in Kintsugi pieces, extremely fitting considering how often she breaks her works, and also teaches pottery classes whenever she has the time.
Voice wise, I envision her to have a medium to high, feminine pitch that showcases a lot of emotion and is very expressive. Looking for POC’s to voice her as she is Asian-American, however all auditions are welcomed regardless.

“Heya! You’re just in time. Grab an apron and take a seat wherever you like.”
“River, can I PLEASE have a bite of your lunch? It looks so good, and I may have forgotten to bring my lunch…”
“What gives you the right to treat someone like that? Just because you may be their superior it doesn’t give you the right to be an asshole!”
The town’s resident florist, she has made quite the name for herself with her beautiful flower arrangements. Despite being in a relatively small and friendly community, most do not know much about her due to her stoic and gruff appearance. Dawn has a muscular build, with tattoos littering parts of her body. She unfortunately has a resting scary face, which on top of her social awkwardness comes across as intimidating to most. Hence, she hires staff to man the customer side of operations while she focuses on the plants and flowers. Once you get to know her, people realise that she is an extremely kind individual who is loyal to a fault and would not hesitate to defend her loved ones.
Voice wise, I’m looking for a medium to low androgynous voice. She may sound curt and scary at first, but she eventually opens up to be the sweetest gentle giant.

One of Dawn’s staff who helps with customers and sales. As he’s the one mainly interacting with people with his charismatic nature, many assume that he’s the boss and Dawn is his employee. He is incredibly smart and hardworking, but also humble and friendly to all which was what led to Dawn offering him a job. He also acts as Dawn’s confidant, always giving his emotionally constipated boss a listening ear.
Voice wise, I envisioned him to have a warm, almost customer service like tone. He’s currently in his final year of university in a pretty rich neighbourhood so his accent may have been slightly influenced by all the prep school students around him.

“You know…that potter girl seems like your type.”
“Oh, no you’ve got it all wrong. I’m just the sales guy, my boss is the one who makes all these beautiful arrangements.”
Another staff member of the flower shop and the youngest of the cast. Mira is highschooler working part time handling retail and the social media of the shop. She’s nice to most, but once you get to know her, all the sass and sarcasm comes flying out. Although she will find ways to get on your nerves, it’s her way of showing her affection. The flower shop is always full of Baxter and Mira’s bickering, much to the dismay of Dawn when she doesn’t have her headphones with her. She forms sort of a crush on River a few months into them meeting for the first time, something Baxter and Dawn tease about whenever possible.
I’m very flexible with Mira’s voice casting, only that I’m looking for higher pitched feminine sounding voices for her.

An apprentice at Skylar’s studio. They come across as quiet and reserved, but once they’ve warmed up, River shines and charms all with his sunshine smile and cheeky demeanour. They are non-binary and go by they/them pronouns, something that Skylar makes sure is always respected at the studio by everyone who enters. River eventually befriends Mira and Baxter, the three of them becoming the ultimate friendship trio. Later down the road, River does develop and reciprocate his feelings for Mira.
I’m looking for an androgynous, masculine voice for River with a calm, soothing tone.
