Hello, everyone! This Casting Call is for Big Misunderstood Wolf - Part 2, a GPS-enabled InterACTIVE Audio Experience (think Pokémon GO™ meets Choose Your Own Adventure® meets Audio Drama).
ALL ROLES ARE PAID PLUS CREDIT; the monetary compensation is listed for each role.
You must be available for rehearsal and recording between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. PST on Sunday, March 6th.
**UPDATE** The audition deadline is **February 20, 2022** @ 11:59 p.m. PST! Casting decisions will be made based on auditions submitted before the deadline.

I'm holding auditions because I'd like to extend our InterACTIVE Audio Experiences into full-cast audio productions. Previous productions had fewer cast members who each played various roles and were recorded one by one in isolation. Despite the fact that they sound great and the performances are fantastic, I still notice the energy imbalance and nuance mismatch between two or more people who are supposedly talking to each other. As a result, everyone must be available at the same time on the same day in order to play off of one another. If just one actor fails to show up, the experience will be ruined for the rest of us who showed up prepared to work our magic and the recording session will be unable to proceed, just as it would be in a live stage production.

ABOUT THE PROCESS:
We will complete our group table read, rehearsal, and recording in a single day. This may be a departure from your previous voice acting work as you'll be performing alongside your co-stars instead of recording your lines one by one in isolation. This, I believe, better captures "the moment" and lends authenticity to what is said and, more importantly, how it is delivered, because everyone is reacting to the scene and to each other. To facilitate group rehearsal and simultaneous recording we use a remote multi-cast recording studio, which requires the Chrome browser and an Internet connection. More than anything else, we'll have fun!
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Part 2 of Big Misunderstood Wolf is the continuation of a story that takes inspiration from fairytales' Big Bad Wolf but turns it on its head. Following the events of Part 1 with the three pigs, Wayne Wolf finds himself in a war with Red Riding Hood, as they are both being manipulated by a mysterious third party to destroy each other's livelihoods. Although this story is not aimed solely at children, it is appropriate for the entire family and would be rated PG if produced into a film.
AVAILABLE ROLES:
Note from Steve: In my opinion, the compensation listed for each role is comparable to lunch money. While I don't have the cash to pay SAG-AFTRA rates right now, I also don't want to make demands on your time and require you to show up on a certain day without at least paying you a pittance to demonstrate my commitment to this project, even if serious money isn't yet on the table.
NARRATOR ($40 | Any Age | Male or Female | A true storyteller, the narrator is a character in his or her own right, not just a passive monotone fact-teller.)
PLAYER ($30 | Age 42 | Male | Wayne is not your typical wolf. He is very quiet and gentle. He worked a job as a building inspector for more than 20 years, before finally realizing his job of opening a bakery. He loves going to work and takes pride in everything he does.)
RED ($15 | Age 41 | Female | She is a southern belle who likes order. She treats those around her with kindness, until they cross her. She started her cafe and one-hour delivery service at the behest of her grandmother. She's the proverbial sheep in wolf's clothing)
LUCINDA ($15 | Age 41 | Female | She's incredibly intelligent and doesn't take crap from anyone. She's always liked Wayne (player) but has never expressed her feelings out of fear of rejection.)
BO ($15 | Age 45 | Male | He's jaded. He never wanted to be a police officer, but was pushed into it by his father, the former Chief of Police. He's close friends with Wayne (Player) so arresting him gives him no pleasure, but he will always do his job, without fail.)
PAULINE ($10 | Age 60s | Female | She's a no-nonsense lawyer who always stands up for those in need. She dislikes cops and doesn't trust them to do their job the right way.)
HOW TO CREATE YOUR AUDITION:
Play every role (including the narrator) in a single take of the entire audition script so I can see how you interpret the scene and how the characters interact (and to demonstrate that nuance and matching energy I mentioned before).
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION:
Attach the audio file in MP3 format with the filename as 'CHARACTER NAME_YOUR NAME.mp3', where 'Character Name' is the part you're auditioning for and 'Your Name' is, well, your name. If you wish to submit a general audition (i.e., you don't care which part you get), name the file 'GENERAL_YOUR NAME.mp3'. Because I will be automatically receiving unprocessed audio files from our recording session, please submit your audio UNEDITED (so I can get a sense of your inherent acting talent) and UNPROCESSED (so I can get a sense of how your microphone and recording environment sound naturally).

PREREQUISITES:
- First and foremost, have fun with this process. Work hard, play hard. That's my motto ;-)
- You must be an Actor, take direction well, and be professional in your conduct, performance, and commitment
- A silent recording environment (i.e., no background noise such as fans, traffic sounds, lawn mowers, etc.) in which you can act as loudly as the script requires with no echo (i.e. no recording in the bathroom)
- High-Quality External Microphone (USB or XLR - no Xbox, laptop, or webcam mics) with Pop Filter (required) and Shock Mount (recommended) for clean recordings with no static or interference
- Headphones (to eliminate echo from the other actors in the scene with you)
- Webcam (video from our recording sessions will be used in our marketing and promotional efforts)
- Google Chrome Web Browser
- Internet Connection
- Signed Talent Release Form (I will provide upon casting)
WHAT WILL CAUSE YOUR AUDITION TO GET AN AUTOMATIC 'PASS':
- Echo or Extraneous Room Noise (don't record in the bathroom, basement, with the window open, etc.)
- Pops and Plosives (use a pop filter - I'm serious. At the first pop or plosive sound I will move on to the next audition.)
- Poor quality sound (don't use an Xbox headset mic or the one built into your laptop. For less than $50, you can get a simple plug-and-play USB Microphone with Pop Filter, Shock Mount, and Tripod Stand. I personally like the 'TONOR TC30 USB Microphone'. I've seen it on Amazon for as little as $33 and as much as $43 and it can be delivered by tomorrow)
I give every audition at least 3 seconds of my attention; if it's good, I give it more.
