Project Overview
Welcome - Angel Shroom Studios presents the official casting call for Burning Lights, an animated Gacha Club series combining high school drama with a magical world. Burning Lights follows the view of nine anthropomorphic animal teens, along with their friends, dealing with the much-piled corruption of both high school and the mystical workings of their environment. The story focuses on one of these teens: Skylar Heslin, a cat who dreamt of big things...until she made one mistake; getting knocked up. It would change the course of her life forever, and that of everyone around her as well. She even manages to catch the attention of a struggling fox who just moved to town...
(( Disclaimer: Burning Lights does contain and imply the presence of some sensitive topics, including ab*se, dr*gs/alc*hol, s*x, horror, death, and gore. These elements will be censored as best as possible without spoiling the experience, and are usually paired with fantasy themes to lighten the mood. However, this is something for you to know.

This casting call is looking for voice actors to perform for a large cast of characters; about nine leading, five supporting, and eight minor roles. There are a wide variety of voice roles open, so consider taking a look at something that might interest you!
We ask that you have the following:
Minimum age of 13 and maximum age of 17
A clear voice and a decent microphone set-up - no need to purchase expensive equipment, but please try to record in a quiet environment, or use features that some apps offer to help cancel background noise. If you have a microphone handy, make use of that!
Ability to speak fluent English, and be able to adapt to different accents such as British, Southern, and Australian. There are some sensitive words, such as swears, included in the script, but please feel free to reach out to us if you do not feel comfortable with them - we're happy to work with you.

Akari has a mid to high-pitched female voice but speaks in a lower, more "deep" feeling tone. They always seem to sound like they know something everyone else doesn't but hides it for the safety and sanity of those around them. Their voice can be compared to Zan Partizanne (Kirby Star Allies) or Bree (Lab Rats).
(Monotonous) "I was created for her, and her only. Therefore, her safety is my responsibility."
(Menacing) "What would you know about 'darkness'? You aren't me, you aren't like me, so shut up."
(Uncaring) "I'm the last person you should be asking about that, but I'd say either put him in his place or dump his ass."
Alex is very sensitive so his voice is often soft even when he’s stern. It is high-pitched for a male and can be compared to Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler) or Alec Benjamin (Singer). He's also british.

(Stern) "I'm ready to try again, if you are."
(Tired) "It's four in the morning, dear. What are you doing?"
Astral is soft-spoken, yet very supportive and kind. He has a soft, gentle medium to high-pitched voice that can be compared to Toon Link (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker) or Elfilin (Kirby and the Forgotten Land).
(Quiet but kind) "Of course...what is it you need help with?"
(Oblivious and humorous) "Wait…what happened to Ajax? He turned into a dishwasher detergent!!" *points at a bottle of Ajax cleaner*
(Emotional) "I've always believed that anyone can change, but I...*voice becomes shaky* I can't forgive this..."
Bliss is a sweet baby girl who loves Boba and her dad. She speaks very little; when she does, it's only one or two-word sentences. Her voice could be compared to baby Moana (Moana) and Baby Dory (Finding Dory).
(Excited) "Oba!"
(Pleading) "Dada, up?"
(Excited, low-key snitching) "Quincy dwank da pink juice!"
Candie is a popular teen in high school with an extremely sweet personality, but with a sprinkle of sass. Her voice is essentially a combination of American phrases in an Australian accent. Her voice could be compared to Zoe (Back to the Outback) and Iggy Azalea (Artist).
(Loud and proud) "Aww thank you! I know you all love this new dress."
(Comforting, but a little sassy) "Hunny, he has no place treating you like that. I'd slap the shit out of him in an instant."
(Snappy) "Well? What happened? Spill the tea!"
Casper is a sweet and kind chinchilla to those who treat him the same way. He is medium-pitched and can be compared to Izuku Midorya (My Hero Academia) and Max (Secret Life of Pets).
(Excited, enthusiastic) "You want to talk to me?! About manga?!"
(Quoting his motto) "Even though life is going horribly, you've gotta look at the brighter path, y'know?"
(Sugarcoating, reassuring) "Yeah, Zaylee's had a...rough life. I guess we both have actually. But for the most part, we're doing okay now."
Christine is very sweet and motherly to the main character Skylar (I wonder why?) although estranged. Her voice is high and soft like a mother's (once again why?) and can be compared to Annapantsu (Cover Artist) or Lisa (Genshin Impact).
(Motherly, concerned) "Come now dear, tell me your troubles."
(Brushing off) "I thought so, but let's keep that a secret between us Mea. I don't think she could take such a shock, right?"
(Giving advice, guiding) "You're going to wanna grab them by the arm, look them in the eye, and tell them they're gonna take no for an answer."
Claire is a squeaky mouse so she is also quiet and soft. When in little space she can be the total opposite, loud and obnoxious. Her voice is high-pitched and gets compared to Chiaki Nanami (Danganronpa 2) and Monica (Danganronpa: Ultra Despair).
(Trying to be intimidating) "I won’t hesitate to bite you-you meanie!"
(Little space, with child-like voice) *Gasp* "Pannycakes, gimme gimme!...hey, das mine dada!"
(Reassuring) "No more lies. No more secrets. I promise."
Damon is a malevolent prick in denial of their own identity. They have a more feminine, medium-pitched voice despite their masculine name. Their voice can be compared to Ash Ketchum (Pokémon), or Gabe Duncan (Good Luck Charlie).
(Snarky) "Oh, pick a side, whore! We all know you'll end up like him no matter what!"
(Malicious) "Stop trying to act like you don't have privilege. Just because you're 'queer' doesn't mean you're disadvantaged."
(Spiteful) "Those are some big words coming from a scrawny mouth like yours! How about you shut up and sit down, and let a real man do the talking?"
Idola sounds like a ray of sunshine, they're always seeing the positive in everything. Their voice is mid-pitch consisting of both English and French speech. She can be compared to Colette (Ratatouille) or Rochelle Goyle (Monster High).
(Salty) "I don't get why Professeur McDonald isn't getting the recipe right! You're supposed to saute the onions before they go in the bouillon."
(Positive, excited) "Can you believe it cherie? I'm on the dance committee!"
(Comforting) "It will be okay, ami, I promise. People act all offensivé for no reason other than to scare others into doing their will."
Jennifer is the cool mom; her voice is medium-high, expressive, and warm. Her voice is compared to Snow White (OUAT/Ginnifer Goodwin) and Mei's Mom (Turning Red).
(Motherly) "Here, take this as a token of my love and appreciation for you. *hands a condom* Make sure you use it to give me my wish of no more grandbabies."
(Doubting, light-hearted) "I found a recipe on Facebook with a bunch of infusion ideas…they were said to be good for babies, but I just hope it tastes okay altogether."
(Unsympathetic) "It's a shame that the rotten apple didn't fall far from the tree."
Luke is a distant cousin of Skylar; he is pretty full of himself and does all he can to flirt with anyone he's interested in to get with him. He has a medium-pitched male voice, which can be compared to Prince Naveen (Princess and the Frog).
(Welcoming) "Hey Skye, my lovely butterfly! How's life been to you?"
(Flirting too hard, failing miserably) "C'mon, you and I just click together...like...two peas in a pod."
(Lazy and inattentive) "What? Oh, yeah, totally. I'm sure it'll all work out. And good luck doing that thing."
Magnus is a dark emo on the outside, but a soft ball of fluff on the inside. His voice sounds tight and cold at a medium pitch, and can be compared to Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) and Tokoyami (My Hero Academia).
(Fatherly) "Blissy boo, stay here for a second hunny." *turns around and his entire mood changes to pissed off* "NOW GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME YOU ASSHOLE!!! I’M NOT INTERESTED!”
(Friendly but sassy) "How would you like it if I slapped YOU on the ass?" *turning to Quincy after being slapped on the ass - not pissed just trying to prove a point*
(Dramatic) "My life is meaningless without cilantro!" *someone brings up Bliss- to which he dramatically responds* "MEANINGLESS!"
Mea is an ambitious and caring person even if it means keeping her thoughts and values to herself. She has a medium to high-pitched voice that can be compared to Charly Burke (The Orville) or Mythra (Xenoblade Chronicles).
(Unsure) "Are you sure...? I feel like that's something she'd want to know upfront, rather than finding out herself..."
(Caring) "It's not a big deal, hunny. Come on, we'll get you fixed right up."
(Excited) "Who cares? We're here to party, so just have fun!"
Nico is very open and welcoming, as well as flexible and non-judgmental. Their voice is medium pitched and has no comparisons to existing characters as the gender portrayed is up to the voice actor who auditions.
(Kind and open) "No problem! I can work with that."
(Interested) "Well, if you're looking for tips on magic, you've come to the right place, my friend."
(Clarifying cheerfully) "It's actually Veronica today, loves. No need to apologize, since I'm not offended."
Paige is brutally honest to everyone unless it's a lover, and she never clearly states her mood in her voice. The most you can tell is if it's positive or negative. She has a medium/low pitch that is scratchy and monotone and can be compared to Twyla Boogeyman (Monster High) and Billie Eilish (Music Artist).
(Whiny but persuasive) "Darling...you need to understand that I do this because I love you…you are my world, and they were just meteors that meant nothing."
(Emotionless) "It's not right, but it's the cycle of life. What is anyone gonna do about it?"
(Sassy) "Pretty Little Liars...that show ended a year ago, right?"
Quincy is a big flirt with no remorse for any hearts he breaks; as long as he's making money doing it, he's good. He has a medium-pitched male teen voice and can be compared to Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel) and Stolas (Helluva Boss).
(Loud and proud) "Hey hey hey, magnificent and company! Everyone ready to party?"
(Anxious) "C'mon, c'mon...seven, seven...AGH!! What's wrong with this thing?!" *playing a lottery machine*
(Slightly flirting) "Everyone has their own path, but they don't discover it until they look for it. How do you know if you don't try?"
Selene is a transgender teen whose relationship and identity struggles led him to ultimately take his own life. His voice includes a reverb/echo effect when he talks, due to his status as a ghost. He can be compared to Rei Batsubami or Ryota Suzui (both from Kakegurui).
(Lashing out) "You never wanted to help me! You just felt bad for me...just like everyone else…"
(Soft and emotional) "H-Hey Blissy...I'm still here. Wanna play like we used to?"
(Whispering) "I can see you..."
Skylar is sweet and seems innocent and naive, but underneath that, she is the complete opposite. Her voice is mid-high pitched and can be compared to Melanie Martinez (Music Artist) or Ochaco Ururaka (My Hero Academia).
(Nervous but kind) "Heh heh, don't worry about it. I think these are yours?"
(Breaking down) "I don't get it...every time something good happens in my life, something else has to go wrong!"
(Defensive) "Say that again about my friend, I dare you..."
Stellar is Astral's twin sister, who shares many of the same qualities as he does; however, she is more extroverted and excitable, and also more prone to anxiety attacks. She is also an age regressor and sometimes slips into headspace. Her voice is usually high-pitched and can be compared to Francesca and Flamberge (Kirby Star Allies) or Daisy (Super Mario games).
(Excited) "This place is so big!! Oh, there’s so much to explore…I can’t get enough!”
(Overly confident, almost manic) "There’s NOTHING you can do to make me think they can’t change!... Nothing…!"
(In little space) "Wha? Whewe I comes fwom? I no know...I wanna pways!”
Victoria is a rather emotional character with very extreme highs and very extreme lows. Her voice is high-pitched and gets higher with strong emotions. She can be compared to Spectra Vondergeist (Monster High) or Luz (The Owl House).
(Sad) "Am I really that much of a bother? I just wanted to go shopping with somebody…"
(Discreetly attention-seeking) "What about me? I got an A in bio!"
(Nervous but firm) "Maybe they don't know who I really am inside...but I do."
Zaylee is very happy-go-lucky and smart for her age. Her voice is high pitch and sassy. She can be compared to JubyPhonic (Cover artist) or Venti (Genshin Impact)
(Sassy) "At least my hand’s too small to get stuck in the cookie jar, unlike yours!"
(Excited) "Are they here?? Are they here?? I can't wait for us to become a family!!!!"
(Afraid) "She...I can see her...she's coming back..."
