Project Overview

Hello! This project is called Broadway Mystic Messenger. Mystic Messenger is an otome game created in 2016 developed by Cheritz. The fandom has been resurfacing lately due to this quarantine we’ve all been stuck in. It’s the perfect time to play this game so everyone has been coming back to it and the fandom has been growing. So, what exactly is Broadway Mystic Messenger? Basically, I’m looking for singers who speak English who will take on the roles of these characters. There are 8 main characters that I am looking to find singers for. Below I will list all of them. We’ll be singing parodies of real songs, but the lyrics and main focuses of the songs will be changed so they match the character/situation/plot. We’ll be singing different styles from pop/musical/rock/etc.


Rules for auditioning:


  • Please specify your age, since there are some very dark aspects of this story.

  • You can audition for as many characters as you want! But don’t audition for the same character more than once.

  • Gender of the character you’re auditioning for doesn’t matter. You can audition for literally anyone if you think you have the right voice for them.

  • You can sing any song you want for the audition; just make sure to sing with the voice you’d use if you were to get the part of that character.

  • Sing at least 1 full minute of a song so I can get a good idea of your voice, timing, pitch, etc. But at least 1 minute, if you want to go longer or sing more than one song, I’m totally fine with that. The more material the better I get to know your voice.

  • You can sing acapella or with a backing track. If you choose to sing with a backing track, make sure it’s not too loud. Hearing your voice is the most important part.

  • NO background noises. Please use a microphone. Hearing the quality of sound is very important because hearing static or dogs barking in a song would not be ideal.

  • Consider making a Discord account, since if you get into the group we’ll mainly be chatting and making plans through Discord. It’s a free messaging app that you can get on phone or computer.

  • This is not required but you can leave comments on your audition linking me to other projects/videos/songs/etc. that you’ve done. Seeing prior experience is a really good thing to have.

  • Ask me any questions if you have any. I want to help you out as much as I can! I don’t bite, I promise!

  • Jumin Han: Male character, wealthy cat-lover and co-operate heir

  • Jaehee Kang: Female character, reluctant assistant to her cat-obsessed boss

  • Rika: Female character, founder of the RFA who mysteriously “died”

  • V: Male character, photographer and Rika’s ex-fiance

  • Unknown/Saeran/Ray: Male character, a follower and hacker, introduced MC to RFA

  • I will be singing as MC but I just wanted to let you know that she will be part of this too!

ALSO, while I will be directing things on my end, I could use another director/leader who knows a lot about Mystic Messenger. I’ve only recently got into this fandom this same year, so I could really use an MM veteran who knows all the important plot points and facts that I may not be aware of yet.

Things to remember:


  • Being part of this group means you’ll learn basically everything about Mystic Messenger. If you aren’t aware of the plot of this game and you want to play it, then make sure to research/play before entering this group because there will be spoilers!

  • All you have to do if you get a part is sing as the character, you don’t have to write any parodies or edit anything at all. If you are inspired and do want to write some parodies for the group then that would be super awesome!

  • Information being dispersed once the group is made will mostly happen on the Discord app.

  • There are going to be a lot of nice, sweet songs, but keep in mind there will also be some dark, depressing songs as well.

  • This project is non-profit, no pay involved. As we are making parodies of songs that already exist, we cannot earn any profit off this project on YouTube due to copyright law. So, it’s just for fun if you have the time and commitment.


Notes:


  • If this goes well, I’ll consider adding some of the more supporting characters like Echo Girl, Sarah, Glam, etc. Just wanted to start out with the main characters for this beginning.

  • Please spread this project around, especially to people you think would be interested in this.

  • I apologize for the unfairness in gendered characters available here. This game was made as a female-oriented otome game, so the developers created a lot of more male characters than female characters. Still, anyone can go for any character! If a female wants to audition for Yoosung, or 707, or even Jumin, go for it lolol!

  • If you’ve ever heard of the Broadway Homestuck singers, they’re a good reference to what our group will be doing if you don’t really understand our purpose.

  • Some casted, and round 2

    Hello everyone! As you can see, I have selected people for the roles of most of the characters. Thank you all for auditioning! I am honored that everyone was willing to share their talents with me and audition for this Broadway Mystic Messenger group. It was really hard for me to choose since there was an incredible amount of talent in each audition. When it came down to it I had to choose who I think fit the character's tone/voice the best. ALSO, not all the roles were cast yet. If your audition has been shortlisted then that means you'll be put into round 2. The reason why a few characters are having a round 2 is one of two reasons. One is because I like all the auditions but don't know if I found a voice that matches the character's tone, however I'm indecisive and could change my mind and cast you in the middle of round 2. Two is because some people auditioned for more than one role and I don't want to throw too many characters on their plate, so I'm seeing if anyone else wants to attempt auditioning. So if you've been shortlisted you still have a shot of getting the part in the next month, it just really depends on what I decide.     Hello everyone! I'm loving hearing the auditions so far! I can't wait to get more auditions in and select parts soon! :) I do have one update however! I have selected a Co-Director. Our Co-Director for the project will be Sugar Cloud.
