  • Birdville Going Green

    VO:

Birdville! Going! Green! Saving our planet, one tree at a time.

Our B.I.S.D. recycling program slightly tweaks the traditional custodial operations to maximize recycling efforts with little to no impact on the custodial workload.

We achieve this by innovation. The standard classroom tends to be outfitted with somewhere between two or three trash bins on average, we plan to change that. We’re going to take all of those excess bins, and simply replace them with just ONE recycling bin.

Now, how does this differ from Recycling plans in the past? Well with Birdville Going Green and our partners in Republic Services and funding from T.C.E.Q. (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) and N.C.T.C.O.G. (North Central Texas Council of Governments) we took the work out of recycling. Previously recycling would have to be broken down by: paper, glass. Plastic metal and so forth… well, not anymore. With the technological advances in our recycling mills WE SORT IT FOR YOU. Our Blue bins will accept almost anything you throw at it… excluding the nasty stuff of course; If it’s been touching food or has bodily fluids on it, we don’t want it, however pretty much everything else, can and WILL go into recycling.

Our plan plans to stop filling up landfills. By going threw with our operations we will convert our districts’ 97% trash-toll into an 80% recycling-rate. It’s time to stop making mounds of garbage and start making the planet a little greener.

One of the most important things about this project is the fact that it IS sustainable. Even after the fund money has been used up. All the supplies needed will already have been purchased at the beginning, ONCE. Because our district will adopt a conservation mindset throughout the entire operation we will be resourceful with the the budget we’ve assigned.

We’re planning to make a change in the way we recycle. Help us create the first EVER streamline recycling program. By making these changes we will educate students and staff, as well as future generations on HOW IT’S DONE.

Birdville going green. Let’s save our planet. One tree at a time.
