Benders & Brews: An Avatar Legends Podcast Prequel Episodes Part 2
Project Overview
What we're looking for:
We're looking for some amazing voice talents to join us in some very special episodes we'll be creating and posting for our show following the release of our 10th episode! We're coming up on a big climax to the current story arc and after which we will be creating backstory episodes for our main characters: Meeka, Brock, Bill, and Guo. Currently, we have a number of VAs chosen for some of the parts, but with four separate stories to tell we need more! So if you're a fan of the world of Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra then this project is up your alley!
As a motivator, we just recently published our 7th episode (as of the date when I created this project) and reached 1,000 downloads before that (1,205 as of posting this project) and we're still growing. So if you want to do voices within a franchise you love and get some exposure, then this project is perfect for you!

- Must be 16+ years of age in order to apply for the roles. We currently are not any form of NSFW or adult content podcast, but in case an adult theme or language comes up (unlikely as it is) we want to be covered on that beforehand.

Introduction to the show:
Jasmine, Oolong, Green, and White. Long ago, these four teas were skillfully brewed at the Blissful Brew. Then, everything changed when the shop’s popularity threatened its existence. All Mr. Okuran, the shop’s owner and tea-master, could do was recruit four teenage orphans to learn his trade and staff his shop. A year has passed since the orphans were hired, and although their skills have progressed, they still have a lot to learn before they can brew anything. But I believe that they have the potential to make the Blissful Brew the greatest teashop in the world.
Who/What we are:
Benders & Brews is a real play podcast based around the Tabletop Roleplaying Game ”Avatar Legends” which was created by Magpie Games and licensed through Viacom Studios. Join us as we play through the homebrew, a non-canonical campaign featuring: non-bender Bill Door, earthbender Brock Lee, earthbender Guo Han, and waterbender Meeka as they traverse the world set in the Avatarverse trying to rescue The Blissful Brew, a tea shop created by their mentor Mr. Okuran, that brought them all together.

Jasper is the father to one of our main characters in the show Bill. Jasper is a big part of this prequel episode and conveys a lot of variety in emotion as the story progresses. So if you feel confident you can handle a lot then this is the part for you! He's not a harsh father, but rather understanding and wants what's best. So give me a voice that portrays that feel.
Also, depending on how things go. This part may have a reoccurring opportunity later in our show. So if that's an opportunity you'd be able to work with, even better. Let me know in your audition notes if that's something you'd be willing to do.

Mak-Tuk is a Water Tribe warrior, right-hand-man to the chief of their smaller sub-sect tribe which stems from the Southern Water Tribe. He is married to Innera and they (during the course of this story) have just birthed their newborn daughter Meeka, who they are raising. Mak-Tuk has a very moderate temperament. He knows when things need to be taken seriously, but he is not without emotion and even sometimes humor. He loves his family, and he works hard to be the "go-to" guy in the tribe whenever something is needed.
I'm not really looking for anything specific for this part, I'm curious to hear the auditions everyone puts forth and deciding which one fits best for the image in my head (as represented by the picture). So give me your best! I can't wait to hear it. Typically, though, most men in the Water Tribe have been portrayed with slightly deeper voices, often with an Alaskan Native direction on accents. But again, I'm not super picky so I'd love to hear what you have!

Even if it was due to some spirit-related upset. For what reason would the spirits be mad at us? We have made our regular offerings, celebrated their gifts, and praised them during our festivals. Nothing has changed in how we show our appreciation for the spirits. We haven’t harmed them in any way.

In our show, we make sure to point out that we are non-canonical. For humor purposes, I could not say not to one of my characters suggesting that his father is THE Cabbage farmer we all know and love from Avatar the Last Airbender. For that reason, we've worked to stem at least fairly well away from being too closely related to the show. So we have named him Frank. Frank is a farmer who grows cabbages and is more than happy with his life doing so. Well, he was until the Fire Nation attacked his farm and took his family, as well as many of the other survivors, to live and work in a Fire Nation prison camp.
Ideally, we're looking for someone that can nail the voice of the original Cabbage Farmer from the show. So feel free to use that as an easy reference! He's a timid, fearful man and that will be reflected in a majority of his lines.
There's also a chance this character might make a resurgence in the show. So if that's something you'd be ok with please make a note of that in your audition notes/comments.

I know it’s hard son. But keep your head up. Someday the Avatar will save us from their tyranny. We’ll start a new home, get back to cabbage farming.

But Brock, it’s far too dangerous, what if the soldiers catch us escaping. They’d kill us all!
Chief Tutanka is a supporting character for the story we're telling. He is the chief of the small sub-sect of the Southern Water Tribe where our story takes place. He has been the chief of this group for many years and is starting to get old, but the people happily rely on his wisdom to run their clan effectively. Lately, there have been many attacks from beasts on their tribe, and the other smaller tribes surrounding them. He believes that the spirits are involved in some way and fears what that might mean for his clan.
Chief Tutanka is an older gentleman with a deep voice but still smooth as opposed to gravely. The tone and pacing are slow and methodical, but not slow as in annoyingly so. He is a man that thinks through everything so he is not one to make rash decisions. I can't wait to hear what amazing voices audition for this role!

As I suspected. This beast is possessed by a spirit!
You and your family are good people. You’ve both contributed much to this tribe. But after tonight, I fear your wife’s secret has now become an incredible danger for the tribe. I cannot allow you to stay here.
Innera is the mother of our primary character: Meeka, and wife to Mak-Tuk. She resides in a sub-sect of the Southern Water Tribe that lives separate from the main tribe. She is a kind woman and loves her family and home, but deep down she hides a dark secret that weighs on her every day. She harbors incredibly powerful abilities, but can never let anyone in her tribe see her use them for fear they will fear and despise her for them. After giving birth to her daughter, she discovers Meeka has inherited her gift and her sense of dread and hate towards this power grows for fear of what it might mean for her daughter's future.
I'm not looking for anything in particular for this role. Simply a female voice with whatever spin you want to put on it! Feel free to use the picture I put together as inspiration. I can't wait to hear the auditions!

It’s not a gift, it’s a curse. It has brought angry spirits to our tribe, hurt people.
Margret is the mother of our primary character Bill. She has seen both good times and suffered a horrible loss in her life but she strives to be strong and move forward and she has the support of her husband who always seems to know what the right thing to do is. She loves her family and feels a sense of personal responsibility to see them safe at all costs, especially since they've lost one of their own in the past. The fear of losing another truly weighs on her heart.

Mr. Guron is the current manager and announcer for Earth Rumble Stadium (non-canonically within our show of course). He works with the fighters, sets up the dates for the fights, manages ticket sales, and during the fights, he is the announcer giving play-by-play as the event plays out. He is a bit of a greedy man and can be brutally honest at times. But at the end of the day, he loves what he does.
Given that Mr. Guron is a heftier man I'm looking for someone who can do a voice that fits that direction. Feel free to use the image as a resource in determining the direction to go but feel free to have fun with it! I can't wait to hear what auditions stem from this part.
