Project Overview

Hello! I am not the project owner, but I am posting on behalf of the Age of Yimi team.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Age of Yimi is a 12 episode animatic mini-series inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender. The show will be fully voice acted and distributed on YouTube. The series is a passion project and all people working on it are volunteers. Due to the unpaid nature of the project, I would be happy to give feedback on auditions upon request. Actors already working on the project have used their lines for reels as well.

This audition is for the title character, Yimi, who is featured in every episode. The rest of the main cast has already been chosen.

Knowledge of the original show is helpful, but not required to audition. No prior voice acting experience is required to send an audition. The team uses Discord as the primary source of communication with assets uploaded to Google Drive.

Please record your audition with the setup you intend to use. If you do not have access to that setup, please send a sample of what your setup sounds like. If you have a demo, please feel free to link it or message me it. A demo is not required to audition.

  • Thank you for your auditions!

    Hello all! I just want to say, as the deadline approaches, thank you so much for all of your auditions. I've been very impressed with you all and I sincerely hope that I will be able to work with you all in some capacity some day! The project owner is beginning to reach out to some of you who may be a good fit for callbacks to read alongside some of the existing cast. It may be a bit before the role is officially cast depending on how long this process takes, but we are hoping it will only be a couple of weeks at most. In the coming days I will be messaging those of you who requested feedback on your auditions. Thank you for your patience! The project owner has made it clear that with the skill you all have, the decision is coming down primarily to who will be the best fit into our existing ensemble, so regardless of the outcomes, please know you all did a phenomenal job! I truly appreciate all of you taking the time to audition, and I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors.

Yimi is a hard worker who values her steadfast and secure life working in her family's noodle shop. At a glance, one would never guess that she is the Avatar. Barely even able to earthbend, Yimi is not interested in being the Avatar, until she is forced to face her destiny to protect her siblings and friends.

Yimi is stubborn but she has a good heart. She is fiercely loyal to those she cares about, especially to her two older siblings, and has a natural inclination to jump into the thick of things to help others. She is energetic and passionate in regards to the things she prioritizes in her life, reluctant towards her Avatar duties.

Please read only Yimi's lines. The additional lines and directions are provided for better context. You may provide as many takes as you like. Feel free to reword lines or improv as feels appropriate, just please include at least one take of the line as written if you choose to do so.

    YIMI: (sarcastically) Just a second. Can't rush perfection, even if it is for Luzen.

    MOU: You know... he's a good person. I'm not really sure why you don't like him.  


    YIMI: (sighing) He just... gets on my nerves ya know? I don't hate him... I just... I don't trust him as far as I could throw him.

  • YIMI: (Yelling) Don't touch me!

    LUZEN: I'm sorry, but at least tell me what is going on. Why were you at the arena? Why did you leave so quickly?  

    YIMI: I don't have time to answer all of your questions. They took Toshiro.  

    LUZEN: What? Toshiro? Why?  

    YIMI: I don't know. All I do know is that they were driving a black car with the license plate SVT 010. I don't need your help.

  • MOU: Yimi why didn't you ask me for help! You got burnt, what if it had been worse? I can't lose another family memb-  

    YIMI: (Softly) Mou, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I wasn't thinking.

    MOU: It's just... I'm the oldest sibling. It's my job to protect you as much as I can.   

    YIMI: You do protect me Mou... Please don't beat yourself up over this. I won't go running into things head first.
