Short synopsis:

Facsimile is a sci-fi suspense short inspired by Aliens and The Thing. Our story starts on a space station in the year 2050 when a team of 4 astronauts is sent to repair a broken solar panel. Though as their mission progresses, an encounter with an unknown person turns their seemingly easy repair mission into a pandora's box just waiting to be opened.

  • The commanding officer of the repair unit sent to replace a solar panel in one of the sky labs orbiting the moon.

  • Marsha is a strong leader thanks to her years of experience, she is a no nonsense CO but knows how to work with her diverse group. She remains cool under stressful situations and will always find a way out of a dangerous situation.

  • I’d imagine her sounding like Zeo Washborne from “Firefly’ or Angela Bassett, just a strong female voice, someone that can command their team and the audience can acknowledge them as a proper leader.

  • “(Remembering a tragic moment, she sounds defeated and tries to remember) I remember how calm everything was before launch, how quiet everyone was. It was just a regular mission for us, but we had a first-timer."

  • “(She sounds scared as she recalls this story) We were all quiet as we heard the knocks from outside the hatch, we took a closer look but the visor was completely dark, they were gesturing towards their wrist panel, implying that their communications device was damaged.”

  • “(A very commanding tone) Alright everyone, to your hab pods, we're clocking out early and first thing next rotation, we're leading back down”

  • Theodore is fresh out of the academy, and this is his first real repair outside simulations.

  • He’s nervous of course, but he doesn't want to let the team down, he does his job very well, and is the “kid” of the group.

  • I’d imagine him to sound like Logan Lerman, a mid to high young adult, a voice that you know he’s nervous at his job but will keep trying until he gets it right, a very curious kid with a fascination of space and what lies beyond. Lots of heavy scenes will require an actor with a strong emotional range.

  • “So what happened up there? Solar panel damaged?”

  • (Excited and happy) “God, just seeing everything, how small and beautiful everything it was, I just want to head out there again.”

  • (Scared and Angry) Marsha, I want to distance myself from this as far as I can, and I want to get this job done so I can go home, now please, let me out there so we can fix this and get off this station

Reference - (Kat)  https://youtu.be/Nl6VJyvI398?t=95

  • Lisa is a veteran engineer, she's done this countless times and is a long time friend of Marsha, though is mainly on this mission to supervise Theodore

  • Much like Marsha, Lisa is well composed and knows the station inside and out, though, she has a kind heart and will always be there for her teammates.

  • I’d imagine for her to have a bit of an accent to her voice, imagine Kat from Halo Reach, or Michelle Rodriguez, again, must have a strong emotional range.

  • (Relaxed and calming) Believe me, you'll get used to it the more you work, it's like carpooling with your buddies

  • (In bliss, enjoying a beautiful view) Best part of my job is when I'm out here, and the whole world is in front of me, you cant beat this view

  • (Caring and concerned) No you're fine, whatever you need... you sure you're okay? You haven't taken your eyes off me since we left the station.

Reference - (Garrus) https://youtu.be/AtFEUP6RVm0

  • Cameron is the communications officer whose job is to maintain radio stability throughout the station as well as the ground station.

  • Cameron is a relaxed man, he’s never experienced any troubles in his 12 years working, he likes to crack jokes to break the tension, and is an overall sarcastic person.

  • I’d imagine him to have a very Garrus Vakarian kinda guy, can be a jokester at times, but can switch to a serious and scared person in a snap.

  • "(Joking with Theo) Keep your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye."

  • (Happy) Aye, there's our little astronaut, so tell me, how was it?

  • "(Stressed but composed) This is Omega-457, we are on full lockdown, we cannot wait for approval to land, we will be disembarking, I repeat, we are on full lockdown and cannot wait for approval to land."

Reference - (Tars) https://youtu.be/wVEfFHzUby0?t=46

  • Neil is the station AI, even though this story takes place in the future, we are just scratching the surface with fully functioning and mobile AI

  • Though AI arent supposed to show emotion, Neil cares about his teammates, and has experience with Marsha and her team, he keeps the station running as well as occasionally checking up on his company

  • I’d imagine him to sound less british robot and more flat. Think like HAL 9000, or TARS from Interstellar.

  • "Team one, I see your vessel, engaging locking mechanism, how copy?"

  • "Solar panel B4 & B5 are damaged, I looked at the radar and there seems to be no debris on route towards us, so it should be a quick repair.  "

  • "A message was sent to you from command earlier, though we were caught up with this situation, could you please follow me?"
