Project Overview

Hello there! Thank you so much for considering auditioning for our project. "Astravore" is a minecraft roleplay series that combines aspects of the magical girl genre with paranormal elements, following the antics of five unlikely friends as they rid their school of ghosts!

We are casting for three primary roles, four supporting roles, and a number of background characters. Every named role listed here will have a main VA and a backup VA if possible. Folks who are casted for primary and supporting roles may also be asked to voice background characters. Even if you are not chosen during this initial casting, we will be reaching out to many people regarding roles as extras. Everyone who submits an audition will be considered.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This is an original project, and we have no prior experience in creating anything like this. We ask for your patience and understanding as we figure things out along the way. This project is meant to be fun, and we hope to build a solid community with our cast. However, we want to stress that it is also very important to us. We plan for around 20 episodes in total, with production on each episode taking between 2-3 weeks. Please do not audition if you are not ready for that kind of dedication and time commitment.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • This project is 17+. This is due to both content maturity and time commitment. We may ask for proof of age during callbacks.

  • Absolutely no AI. We do not accept AI auditions or recordings and trust me when I say, we can tell.

  • Anyone of any experience level is welcome to audition. All we ask is that your audio is clean with minimal editing and background noise.

  • Submit your auditions in AABBCC format. We'd love to hear several takes on each line so we can get a feel for your range :)

  • Please submit files in .wav or .mp3 format. These are the easiest for us to access and keep track of.

  • Communication for this project will be done solely through Discord. Please include your Discord username in your submission. Also, we encourage anyone who is auditioning to join our Discord server linked below.

PAYMENT:

We are a group of three college students with limited funds. As such, participation will initially be unpaid. However, our hope for this project is to make money, and we do plan to pay our voice actors if possible. Payment will be discussed further with those who are casted in the project.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for submissions is July 26th. We may extend this deadline depending on the number of auditions we receive. We will hold callbacks during the audition process. Casting will occur July 31st / August 1st. We will be jumping straight into production following casting.

    A reminder for current and future submissions: please include your discord username in your submission. It makes it much easier to reach out to you all.

    I also want to reiterate that you need to be at least 17 to be casted in this project. No exceptions will be made on this.

Ezra is a quiet character who keeps to himself. Very artsy; enjoys things like poetry and theater. Despite being a ghost hunter, he is quite scared of ghosts and the paranormal. His creativity allows for out-of-the-box thinking and problem solving.

He speaks with low energy. As his actor, you must be able to do screams of fears & mumbling as well.

Odin is smart and self-assured; his confidence often manifests as an overinflated ego. He prefers to do things by the book. In times of crisis, others will turn to him for a plan.

We need someone who can deliver sarcasm well. While Odin is nerdy, we are not looking for a stereotypical nasally voice.

Ambrose is your typical student without many friends to talk to. There isn’t a lot that stands out about him initially and this should be reflected in his voice. Later on, he will play into a more charismatic vibe.

NOTE: While this character is considered a major role, he will likely not have many speaking lines until about 1/3 of the way through the series.

An eccentric supernatural fanatic who believes she can see ghosts (she can't). She knows pretty much everything about them though. To other students, Riley comes across as a bit creepy. She often pops out from the shadows and sinks back into them just as quickly as she came.


We have no specific voice in mind for this character at all, so we encourage you to have fun with your audition. Lean into whatever vibe you feel is best.

Mabel is a top student who never misses a day of class, even if the world was about to end. She takes her classes and schoolwork very seriously. Everything with her is no-nonsense, and if it's not worth her time, she doesn't care. Odin believes she’s his best friend (she isn’t).

Headmistress Victoria Stein is a posh older lady who rules the school with an iron fist. Not even teachers are exempt from her criticism. Nothing in the school gets by her.


Her voice should be haughty, but not snobbish. We want her to sound somewhat refined in her manner of speaking. Please feel free to experiment with it!

A sad, balding older man. Early appearances will present him as put-together and serious. When pressured, he becomes timid and nervous. He will do anything the Headmistress tells him to. Certain students can also push him around.

We're looking someone who can do both a gruff and nervous voice.
