Third year Ōta Tadanori hates his name and exclusively goes by Nori, he’s listless but if you call him Tadanori he will fight you. He only hangs out with his childhood friend Toru as he finds everyone tiresome, this doesn’t stop Mio from clinging to him to get his information. If he isn’t sleeping he’s listening to his favourite artist S4OYO
“Call me Nori, I can’t stand my name.”
“Man this solo is amazing, it must’ve taken a load of work to get this good.”
“(yawns) Might take a nap on the roof, tell the teacher I’m sick or something.”
Third year Matsuda Toru is an A+ student, he’s popular with his classmates and has a few fans throughout the school. Despite his confident appearance he worries about his grades and always strives to do better. He plays soccer after school while his childhood friend Ōta Tadanori watches, he tries to get him to play too but he has no interest in it. He chases Tanabe Chie around for her baking
“Chie~ I’ve come for more snacks, hand ‘em over.”
“Nori, come on. Soccer is fun, you'll definitely like it.”
“Man… this sucks, I can’t get this right. I have to study harder.”
First year Sāto Jo is half American on his mother’s side and half Japanese on his fathers side. He cares for his friends and enjoys giving meaningful gifts to his friends and family. He makes American bentos for Kairi and Yuzuru everyday. Though he loves being in Japan he misses America and is always excited to go back for holidays.
“Yeah… ya can’t beat a good old fashioned cheeseburger.”
“Here, have this. I saw it on my way home and thought you’d like it.”
“I like that song too! Let me show you an artist that’s like them, you’d like it!”
Second year Tanabe Chiha is a mature sister that loves to care for others, especially her twin sister, Chie. She stays up late most nights to help Chie study, Chie tries to get her to relax but she reassures Chie that helping is good revision for herself. Chiha hopes to be a kindergarten teacher that is as loving and caring as the schools guidance counsellor.
“Aren’t kids so cute? I hope I can help them grow up someday.”
“C’mon Chie it’s not too hard, math is just simple formulas!”
“I’m worried Chie will walk into a pole or something, she doesn’t pay attention at all.”
Second year Tanabe Chie is airheaded and struggles with keeping focus for everything but baking, she wants to be a professional patisserie and study in France when she gets older. She frequently speaks broken french as she’s desperately trying to learn the language
“Chiha, taste this cupcake I made today. I think it might be a little too sweet? I’ll have to look up how to balance flavours better.”
“Ugh, why is studying so hard? This should be illegal.”
“Je suis.. Chie? Is that right? Uhhh, où est le chat…”
First year Kairi is teasing, playful, and cheeky towards their friends and acquaintances. Though when they try to prank their younger brother Yuzuru, their efforts are in vain–Yuzuru’s reactionless expression is enough to make Kairi pout in disappointment. They have a close relationship with their brother, the boy treating them to snacks often to cheer them up. Kairi enjoys joking around with their friends, and they laugh very hard at their own jokes.
“Do “Yuzu” wanna get lunch at the cafeteria? … I see, no reaction…”
“Wow, this snack is so good! Where did you get it?!”
“Hahah! I was “JO”king, get it?! JOKING HAHAHA.”
Suzume is a quiet girl from grade two, keeping to herself unless Mio is around. When alone with Mio, Suzume is more expressive, finding herself chattering away at her close friend. Her favourite subject is music, and her dream is to become a singer/songwriter, despite her parents’ wishes for her to earn a stable income. She uploads songs she made through an online persona by the name of “S4OYO,” and only Mio knows about this secret.
“I’m sorry, I don’t really have the time right now. Maybe someone else can help carry those things?”
(Humming) “That might make a good song, let’s add it to the book.”
“Mio! I came up with a new song, do you wanna hear it? I think it’ll be a masterpiece~”
