An animated short that started as my entry for my school's film festival! The story is about a young girl named Penelope who finds trouble with confronting her brothers death. Once a happy family, now turned to a shell of what once was. As a young adult finding herself in a cruel world, trying to protect herself from bullies and the verbal abuse from her own parents she begins to fill with hate and spite. As time goes on it fills her with spite, transforming her into an irreversible beast.
Once lived a happy life, with kind parents, and a kind brother. But one dark night took it all away. With the lose of her dear brother she lives her life in gloom and depression. Bullied day in and day out by those who don't know sympathy or empathy. The once kind colorful world only brings her hate now. She often is compliant and reserved to the bullying that happens to her. Mostly meek and cowardly. When her brother is alive she tends to follow him around as he is her strength and makes her feel braver than she actually is. When she's alone she usually mopes in her emotions and once everything becomes heavier her mind breaks. (In other words she gets super carried away by her emotions and like her father, tends to switch to rage very quickly.)
*sad at first, but starts progressively getting angry. She begins to blame her late brother and fills with spite from his death." Why? Why did you have to leave? How could you leave Mum... Dad... me.. How could you leave me with these awful people. These horrible wretches who torture me day in and out. How could you leave me alone with these MONSTERS?!
*almost given up. monotone as her father scolds her. Compliant and quiet to his scolding because it happens often. Makes one feel like a mouse trying to shrink smaller.* Yes. I'm sorry Father. I won't do it again.
*feeling the aches of transforming. whimpering as she is turning into a beast. The transformation is painful and it makes her even angrier.* Ahh [whimper] stop... stop it! STOP IT!!! [screams in pain] IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS. STOP HURTING STOP-
The older brother who passes. He's an average boy who loves his family and is brave and strong. Is essentially the glue that keeps the family together and gives his sister her strength. His sister often confides in him and is a very smart and strong boy. His parents are very proud of his achievements and he is one of the top students in his class. His personality is more alive and mischievous than his sister and tends to use it against her when they play. When his sister is in trouble or down he tends to act tougher than he is, making himself seem like he's her hero like in the fairy tales.
It's alright dear sister. Your big brave brother is here to save you!
*yells like he's reaching the table like it's a race.* I call the last roll! [laughs in joy] Yes haha! Mum's rolls are the biggest best and toastiest in the whole entire village!
*in a high and mighty voice he's so into his fantasy play* I am the king of this castle! All yee who dare to oppose me will be vanquished and sent to the dungeon! [a hearty chuckle] Now kneel you peasants. Bow before your king!
Best friend to the older brother and good acquaintances to the protag. Often goes on adventures with the two in their yard. Once the brother passes he often comes over to cheer up the protag. Is smart like the brother and cunning. Even though they don't often talk he has sympathy for the sister.
*mumbles this to himself. not too happy to be called a peasant by his friend and is being made to kneel* Pssh Some king you are. What kind of King makes his people give their toys to him. [Gets caught mumbling to himself by Jasper] Huh? What? Oh oh riiight! Oh what a mighty king you are, Lord Jasper. *at the end he says Lord in a mocking way*
*soothing penelope, whispering to her as they hug it out.* It's okay... I'll always be by your side. Even if he isn't here anymore. Shhh shhh It's going to be okay.
*shouting into the house searching for protag* Penelope? Penelope? Are you here? I heard some crashing... Are you alright in there?
The protag's father. A hard edged man who often takes out his angers and frustrations through scolding and punishing his daughter. Even though he wasn't hit as hard with his son's death his fuse is shorter after being hit by depression.
I have told you a thousand time not to go out after the sun sets. But here I find you spending time with a boy alone in a dark place? Your brother was always a good child. He always listened to what he was told.
*yelling at the monster unknowingly* GET AWAY YOU BEAST! GO! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!
The protag's mother. Is more reserved than her father and often is on his side when scolding the protag. Was hit the hardest with the brother's death and often avoids looking at the protag because she looks too much like her brother.
*turning a blind eye. almost like she is shunning protag* Listen to your father. We know what's best for you young lady.
*in horror and fear* AHHH MONSTER. GET AWAY FROM ME! MONSTER! IT'S A MONSTER!
Bullies and peers who constantly make fun of protag after and during school. Once brother passes the bullying get's even harsher and they start to make rumors that she had killed her brother.
Look at her, how poor and pitiful she looks. What? Are you waiting for dear 'ld Jasper to come and save you? Well he's dead! You must have killed him. I can see it in those crazy eyes of hers.
*laughing mockingly at the end they probably spit in her face. Can improve if you want.* Go run off to the sewers! A no good rat like you belongs there!
Male townsfolk will be very scared, a beast is wrecking the village and causing chaos and fear to spread. Some cower in fear while others are prepared to fight for their lives.
*screaming. A mob type feel.* KILL THE BEAST KILL IT! LOOK AT WHAT IT'S DONE TO OUR VILLAGE. CHOP OFF IT'S HEAD!
*Horrified scream/gasp*
The female townsfolk are also scared. Most of them are cowering and some are protecting their children. Some are ready to fight and are shouting along with their male counter parts.
*screaming in fear as the beast tears through townI* "Oh god save us!" "My baby! Please someone help!" "Mummy?"
*things the mob are screaming. can be done in different voices.* "THAT BEAST SHOULD BE BURNED TO THE GROUND. WHERE NO LIGHT CAN REACH IT!" "CUT IT UP AND THROW IT INTO THE SEA! MAKE IT FISH FOOD!"
