A Hunters Mercy
Project Overview
In the dark and cursed city of Yharnam, where the line between man and beast blurs, Aldric, a scarred and weary hunter, embarks on a harrowing mission to end the madness of his former brotherhood, the Lamp Flame. Once sworn to protect humanity, the Lamp Flame fell into madness, their fire consuming not only beasts but innocents. One by one, Aldric must confront and defeat his former comrades—each twisted into monstrous reflections of their past selves. As he battles the horrors they have become, Aldric learns that the Hunt itself is the true enemy and vows to end its cycle of blood and fire, leaving behind a legacy of mercy and hope.

Aldric
Role: The Reluctant Hunter
Age: 34
Physical Traits: Lean but battle-worn, with sharp eyes that carry the weight of loss. His left gauntlet is scarred from countless battles, and his face bears a fresh claw mark across his cheek from his encounter with Lysandra.
Personality: Determined, reflective, and haunted by the past. Aldric carries a sense of guilt over what his comrades have become, believing it is his responsibility to offer them mercy.
Background:
Aldric grew up in a tight-knit, working-class neighborhood of Yharnam during the early days of the beast scourge. Orphaned at a young age, he relied on the older children in the neighborhood, including Lysandra, Magnus, Garret, and Elias, for guidance and protection. Known as the smallest and most vulnerable of the group, Aldric earned their affection through his sharp wit and determination to prove himself.
When the scourge reached their district, they banded together to survive. They scavenged weapons and supplies, fought off prowling beasts, and kept each other alive. Eventually, they caught the attention of the Healing Church, which recruited them into the ranks of hunters. Their shared experiences bonded them tightly, and they formed their own faction—the Lamp Flame—dedicated to experimental and destructive techniques in hunting beasts.

You don’t want this, Elias. I’d already be dead if you did. Let me save what’s left of you!
You were never a monster, Lysandra. You were family, I’m sorry I couldn’t bring your back from the darkness.
I see it now. The Hunt doesn’t end with blood. It ends with knowledge, with hope.
Elias, the Beast of Brotherhood
Role: The Fallen Leader
Age: 39
Physical Traits: Once the picture of a noble hunter, Elias has become a towering, wolf-like beast, his fiery eyes glowing with hatred. His hunter’s garb remains in tatters, a grim reminder of what he used to be.
Personality: Charismatic, commanding, and passionate, Elias was the group’s natural leader. But his descent into vengeance and madness turned him into a tyrant, consumed by rage against the beasts and the gods alike.
Background:
Elias was the eldest of the group and its de facto leader, always taking charge during times of crisis. He believed deeply in the Hunt’s purpose, but the loss of their neighborhood to the scourge filled him with a burning hatred. As the leader of the Lamp Flame, Elias demanded absolute loyalty, driving the group to ever greater acts of destruction.
Look at me, Aldric! This isn’t a curse-it’s power! The gods, the beasts, The hunt-they don’t control me anymore. I’ve taken that control for myself!
I didn’t want this, I never wanted this. But those things, the hunt itself..made me into this. Now I can’t turn back.
I know how you feel, but you remember like I do. Beasts don’t spare anyone, our families, our friends…no one.
Lysandra, the Beast Handler
Role: The Fierce Protector
Age: 38
Physical Traits: Towering and muscular, her frame is imposing even before her transformation. As a Beast Handler, her body has become twisted with predatory features—glowing eyes, sharp claws, and beastlike agility.
Personality: Maternal yet fierce, Lysandra was the heart of the group. She treated Aldric like a younger brother, often shielding him both emotionally and physically. However, her descent into madness has made her unpredictable and dangerous.
Background:
Before the scourge, Lysandra was the strongest and most capable among her peers, often taking on a leadership role. Her size and strength made her a natural protector, and she was fiercely loyal to the group, especially Aldric. She believed beasts were misunderstood creatures, not inherently evil, and this belief later informed her experimental techniques in taming and controlling them.
As a member of the Lamp Flame, Lysandra developed innovative ways of using beasts as tools in the Hunt, which ultimately led to her downfall. Her experiments exposed her to the blood too often, and over time, she began to lose her humanity, becoming more beast than hunter.

You were so small back then. Wheat and metal, I felt it, “he’s my responsibility. My family.” Lady, I’m so sorry.
Do you see now? Power like this doesn’t come without costs. We’re not human anymore - we’re gods.
Be better than me, Aldy. Be the hunter I wanted you to be. Remember me like I was, not this. I’m so proud of you.
Garret, the Mad Alchemist
Role: The Brilliant but Twisted Mind
Age: 36
Physical Traits: Lean and wiry, with sunken eyes and discolored skin from years of exposure to alchemical toxins. His transformation left him with grotesque, mutated features, including a sickly glow to his skin.
Personality: Intelligent but cold, Garret was always the most analytical of the group. His curiosity and ambition drove him to experiment with forbidden alchemy, pushing boundaries no one else dared to cross.
Background:
Garret was the neighborhood’s quiet genius, always tinkering with herbs and potions to find ways to survive. As a Lamp Flame, his alchemical skills made him invaluable, but his obsession with transformation eventually overtook his loyalty to the group. He began experimenting on beasts—and himself—hoping to find a cure for the scourge or, failing that, a way to master it.
The Hunt was never about humanity—it was about progress. About what’s next. Beasts are just the beginning.”
Oh, Aldric. Still clinging to humanity, to your precious ideals. It makes you weak. Evolution doesn’t care about morality
“You think it’s over? I am a god now, Aldric! You can’t stop what I’ve become
The Reckless Innovator
Age: 37
Physical Traits: Medium build but scarred from countless explosions. His skin is blackened and cracked from his overuse of fire-based weaponry. His fiery eyes and unhinged grin make him look more like a beast than a man.
Personality: Brash, impulsive, and fiery both in personality and tactics. Magnus thrives on chaos, believing that fire is the only true weapon against the scourge.
Background:
Magnus was the group’s loudest and most unpredictable member, always looking for the flashiest solution to any problem. Growing up, he scavenged explosives and weapons, delighting in their destructive potential. As a Lamp Flame, Magnus specialized in pyrotechnics, designing bombs and flame weapons that were as dangerous to himself as they were to beasts.
Over time, his obsession with fire consumed him. He began burning everything in his path beasts, innocents, and even his fellow hunters. Exiled from the Lamp Flame, Magnus retreated to an abandoned factory, where he continued his work in isolation.

Innocent? There’s no such thing anymore! The flames will purify them all, and if there’s nothing but ash left, so be it!
You think you’ve seen fire, Aldric? You haven’t even glimpsed the inferno! I am the fire!
Don’t you dare judge me! You left us. You don’t know what it was like, but Elias promised us power. And he was right!
An enigmatic guide in the Hunters Dream, the Doll provides Aldric with counsel, warmth, and occasional unease. Her calm demeanor contrasts with the chaos of the Hunt, yet theres’s a subtle sadness to her character.
Soft-spoken yet captivating, with a melodic voice that conveys wisdom and sorrow. Subtle expressions and body language are key to creating her mystique.

The Hunt is a burden of both blade and soul. Mercy and vengeance are but two sides of the same coin.
You cling to your humanity, good hunter, but how much of it remains? What will you be when the Hunt ends
