Project Overview
A Girl with Green Eyes follows the story of Dawson Lase, a nearly 18-year-old boy who has had bad luck his whole life. He has quite a negative outlook on life and does not think the world is a good place. How could he? That view begins to change when he meets Pearl, a soft-spoken girl with a lot to say once you get to know her.

Pearl Carter is very soft-spoken, rather shy. Her three best friends have been with her since she was adopted by her parents, Thomas and Jewel. She does not open up very easily and is often seen with her nose stuck in a book. Any vocal tone or accent would work for this role but medium-high would be best!
(Small chuckle) -Calm/Happy- Good to know you have my back, V. Now can we please get to class now? You know how much I hate being late.
-Upset/Desperate- No! Y-you need to leave! Just give him a chance! Please! He doesn't mean it!
-Unsure/Embarrassed- I owe everything to my parents. I uh…I didn't have the best life before they came along, and at the time, they took me in with love and open arms. I needed that at the time they adopted me.
Dawson Lase is quite the pessimist. He never knew his father, and his mother has been in the hospital for nearly eight years. He lives with his Auntie Karol and he tries to keep up spirit for her sake but it doesn't work out very well. Any tone and accent will work for this role!
-Slightly Sad- I’ve spent my whole life
surrounded by people whose hearts have been broken, not once, not even twice! I promised myself I would never make their mistakes. But I didn't know it would only take just something as simple as a girl with green eyes.-Uneasy- M-my mother. She’s been in the hospital since I was ten. I rarely see her, and with finals coming up, I take every chance I get.
-Calm- Yes, auntie, I’ll be home soon. I’ll make sure the house is clean before you get home. Love you too. Bye.
Vega is one of the most loving and protective people you will ever meet. Pearl, April, and Autumn are her best friends and they have all known each other for years. While she is a little bit impulsive, Vega means well. She really does have a heart of gold, if she trusts you that is. Any tone with a Latin American accent would be perfect!
-Concerned- I just wanted to make sure she would have somebody to talk to. She hates me right now…
-Calm- Well, that's my ride. -Quiet/Serious- Hey, if you need anything tonight, call me.
-Raising her voice/Upset- Dammit Pearl, call the fucking cops already!
Along with her twin sister Autumn, April Zhao is half of the most bubbly pair in all of Westbrook. She loves to dance around, sing, and just be giddy. She has a very optimistic view and is willing to help anyone at any time. A medium to medium-high tone with any accent will be perfect for this role!
-Hopeful/Chipper- Maybe it’ll be over soon!
-Excited- Race you to the car! The last one, there is a rotten egg!
-Confused/Concerned- Vega…why are you so quiet?
Along with her twin sister April, Autumn Zhao is the other half of the most bubbly pair in Westbrook. She is a little bit more serious than her sister, but she still loves to dance around, sing, and be very chipper. The twins are nearly inseparable. A medium to medium-high tone with any accent would be perfect for this role!
-Sad- I’m with ‘Ril on this one…you're the one who said we can't break it.
-Worried/Understanding/Motherly- Pearl, sweetheart…come on, you know that you can talk to me. You’re crying more than Alice right now. Please tell me what’s wrong.
-Calm- Bad things do happen; how you respond to them will define your character and the quality of your life. You can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of your loss, or you can rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift you have, life itself.
Karol has been raising her nephew Dawson since he was ten years old. She misses her sister every day, opting to stay home and let Dawson visit instead of her. She has sacrificed a lot to raise him, and she will always do just that. A medium-low tone with any accent would work great!
-Curious- Are you staying out for the night, love?
(Chuckle) -Happy- Pumpkin pie was your mother’s favorite. I’ll go to the store now so we can make it.
-Confused- Yes…may I ask who is calling?
Jacobi has been on a mission trip in France for two years. He loves people but still has a hard time expressing it. He and Dawson have somehow made such a long-distance work. He is actually a bit stubborn, wanting to do things his way, despite his desire to help people. Any tone with any accent would work great!
-Confused/Caring- But she’s practically a stranger, right? I know that you’re blaming yourself right now, but it is not your fault.
-Angry- That’s a lie! Of course, I care about you! I love you!
-Caring/Feels bad- Hey bud…uh…Karol told me what happened. I really wish I wasn't so far away...
Thomas is the adoptive father of Pearl Carter; standoffish and harsh, he certainly lacks the qualities a good father has. He struggles with an addiction to alcohol and misses his wife every single day she is gone. Any tone with a Brooklyn accent would be great!

-Cold- I’m not even your real father, for god's sake!
-Quiet/Sad- Jewel...please wake up. I need you here.
