shinozakeh for Pure First Year

Voice Actor
Voice Actor
Pure First Year
open
Unpaid

EDIT: This role was originally for a Pure character who has the range of both soprano and mezzo-soprano due to unstable character designs.

Anyone auditioning for the Smile First Year will be required to be very flexible with their character because the first years have been the most trouble for designing.

To show how much drastic changes there were in our character designing: Fuyue (the current first year cool) was originally a Pure type and Chie (the previous first year smile) was also originally a Pure type! There's no telling if there's going to be more changes in the first years.

Take any first year or second year Pure girl for inspiration because I think the third year Pures are too mature compared to their underclassmen.

Auditioning for the first year pure will require you to have a young girl voice that would fit a first year girl in highschool. Make sure to have energy! Auditioning for this role if you have a naturally light voice is recommended.

First years are expected to have a young sounding voice as they are the youngest in our group. We expect auditions from singers around the ages of 13 to 16, however, it's not a strict rule and it should not scare you away from auditioning for this role!

  • Read the project description and character description before auditioning.

You must sing Bokura no LIVE Kimi to no LIFE *AND* for your second song you must sing a solo from a Pure girl /or/ choose a song from Printemps or CYaRon!. **YOU MAY NOT USE NAWATOBI FOR YOUR AUDITION!**

The length of the singing does not matter, but singing at least thirty seconds is recommended. Adding extra songs to show off your other range is a good idea too!

Off-track is recommended so we can hear your timing, but it's not required.

  • Due to many auditions having trouble with voice acting with no lines, I've decided to write up mock-up character lines! Feel free to try any kind of character voice with them and you can change it up however you want. You can even just make your own if you'd like!

The lines were based on the "Love Live! Sunshine!! Hajimemashite!" scripts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ0T2Xs8OYo

We will make official "Hajimemashite!" clips for our introductions of our characters once they are completely designed and approved. If you'd prefer to use a clip you already have of voice acting then you can use that too.

The names and characters are fake were purely made for your voice acting audition, but the personalities were made in the thoughts of each attribute and year! I would like to clarify that this is not your character and that it's just to give you something to work with. I threw in some of the names of the current members to give it a more personal feeling, but the characterisation of the mentioned members might be off, haha. You can do whatever you'd like with the lines!

Tanaka (Family name) Koharu (Given name)

    Ramuna High School (High School)

    Ai♥doru (School idol group)

    EnlightEn (Rival idol group)

    Long VA Lines

"We're already recording? But I thought you said- Uh, uh- hi! I mean, hello? Hello I'm Tanaka Koharu from Ramuna High. I'm a first year student and a school idol in the new school idol group Ai♥doru!

We've been getting a lot of attention recently! Getting a lot of nice messages from all of you makes me excited to do another live show!~ Saki said that I look like a marshmallow and I'm not sure what she means, but I think she said that because I've been really happy lately! It's because that I can make people happy by doing what I love, and that makes me happy too! The rising popularity is making me nervous because that means people might compare us to EnlightEn and notice my shortcomings... I almost fell during the last live and I cried afterwards because I was so embarrassed after all that practising! W-wait I probably shouldn't have said that! Uh, Emi stop the recording! Could you please delete this recording and make another one? (Emi: Don't worry we'll edit it out so just keep going!) I don't think you're being truthful to me! T-turn it off before I accidentally say something I regret! E-Emiiii!!"

    Short VA Lines

I'm Tanaka Koharu, a first year student at Ramuna High. I enjoy sweets, snacks, and just about any junkie food I can get my hands on! (Normal)

Yeah, I'm all set! So we're going to a cake shop? I want to buy a whole cake, hehe!(Happy)

Even if she's really cute, I don't want to watch two hour marathons of Tama-chan!! I want to watch EnlightEn's new live show! (Anxious)

We got real fanmail!? Oh my god, what is it? Is it a letter? Did we get chocolates? I want to see! But is it for me...? C-could you check for me please? (Excited/Wary)

I'm really glad that we can speak together like this. I really appreciate that we're friends, I feared that we would drift apart like everyone else... But I didn't have to worry about that did I? (Heartfelt)

I'm not good at being a school idol! I don't know what to do! I don't want to leave Ai♥doru, but I don't want to bring you all down! Waaaah! (Miserable)

I thought I could put up with this and that you'd understand that you've been hurting me, but you seriously don't know what you've done, do you!? (Seething)

  • Introduce yourself in the audio clip or in comments! We'd love to know more about yourself so we can ensure that you'd be a good fit for our project!

Here's a form you can use if you're unsure what to say! We'd still prefer if you'd use an original introduction of yourself.

Name or what name you'd like to be referred as:

Age: (Or what year you would be in this project if you were to be faithful to the role ages)

Your social media: (We're asking for contacts like Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube, etc. This can be sent privately if you're uncomfortable with this information being public!)

    Favourite Love live! Idol:

What you would type yourself as a Love Live! attribute?: (Smile/Pure/Cool)

Favourite types of characters: (That you'd want to make your idol to be based off of. You could also state existing Love Live! idols if it's easier for you.)

How many projects you're apart of right now or your schedule:

Voice types & Range: (Describe what kind of voice types and singing ranges you're able to utilise strongly.)

What would you able to contribute to the group?: (Art, graphics, writing, research, video making, audio mixing, character design, and peer reviewing. We may have missed some skills, so list them if you have more!)

How comfortable are you with feedback?: (Does it make you anxious or are you all cool with it? We need to know your boundaries so this doesn't become a bad experience for you. What kind of things would you not tolerate? Our group is mainly about designing together, so this is very important.)

Anything else you'd like to share?:

Sorry if this sounds mean, but I'm not exactly sure why you auditioned for the first year pure? I might have encouraged you before, but I think I was expecting something gentler for the voice acting. Your voice isn't exactly the sweet, innocent, and childish voice you'd imagine when thinking of a first year pure character. It's quite levelled and mature, I mean it could be used as a twist in character design, but it's not expected if you were to look at the canon characters and the role in general. Your voice acting was very fast spoken and didn't have any of the emotions we were looking for. Slow down and take the time to voice act each line carefully. You're already pretty good at reading lines without stumbling or having issues, but I'll write each line to show you what emotions each line was supposed to convey so you can learn from it. Honestly, I'd say to go see Chiru's audition or just study anime voices for more help. >> "I'm Tanaka Koharu, a first year student at Ramuna High. I enjoy sweets, snacks, and just about any junkie food I can get my hands on!" (Normal) This line shows that this is the test character's normal type of voice. She is excited about talking about her junk food and that is her normal state of emotion on a typical line. There's an exclamation mark to show how this line was supposed to be read. You said the line. . . . But that's all you did. You quite literally said the line and listed off her favourite food. There was no excitement coming from this line. >> "Yeah, I'm all set! So we're going to a cake shop? I want to buy a whole cake, hehe!" (Happy) The first sentence shows that Koharu has gotten ready and is talking to someone who was waiting for her. The previous line already showed how enthusiastic she is about her junk food, especially sweets and snacks so this line should have been excited and happy. This line is linked with the third year's short voice acting happy line: "Did you pack your bags? Let's go then! I heard there's a new cake shop that opened today~ (Happy)" >> "Even if she's really cute, I don't want to watch two hour marathons of Tama-chan!! I want to watch EnlightEn's new live show!" (Anxious) There's uh, two exclamation marks to symbolise how heightened her emotions are. I'm not exactly sure how to explain this to you. Let's start off with what the emotion anxious means: anx·ious ˈaNG(k)SHəs adjective 1. experiencing worry, unease, or nervousness, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. "she was extremely anxious about her exams" synonyms: worried, concerned, uneasy, apprehensive, fearful, perturbed, troubled, bothered, disturbed, distressed, disquieted, fretful, agitated, nervous, edgy, antsy, unquiet, on edge, tense, overwrought, worked up, keyed up, jumpy, worried sick, with one's stomach in knots, with one's heart in one's mouth; More 2. wanting something very much, typically with a feeling of unease. "the company was anxious to avoid any trouble" synonyms: eager, keen, desirous, impatient "she was anxious for news" The emotion she's feeling right now is that she's wanting to watch EnlightEn's new live show, like she said in the second sentence. However, someone (Miyu) is trying to make her watch two hour marathons of Tama-chan (Miyu's cat) and she doesn't want to. Like she stated in the first sentence. Koharu is very anxious and wants to avoid a situation where she is unable to watch something that just came out and is being pressured into watching a cat video for two hours. Your line did not portray this at all. This line is linked with the second year's short voice acting happy line: Tama-chan is so cute! Do you want to see this video I took yesterday? Isn't she adorable? (Happy) >> "We got real fanmail!? Oh my god, what is it? Is it a letter? Did we get chocolates? I want to see! But is it for me...? C-could you check for me please?" (Excited/Wary) Your "Oh my god, what is it?" was the only distinct emotion here. Even your "C-could you check for me please?" fell flat in the mere fact you were rushing to get your lines all out within eight seconds really destroyed the emotion of any of the lines you were saying. "But is it for me...?" Periods mean a full stop, and if there's three periods it's usually because of the speaker being sad or being hesitant, and you were supposed to portray that. Timing is very important in this line because Koharu has low self confidence which is implied by asking another person to check the fanmail for her before she gets too excited for them. Your voice did not rise or lower and your excited and wary emotions were just. . . Very flat with no variation much like most of your voice acting. >> "I'm really glad that we can speak together like this. I really appreciate that we're friends, I feared that we would drift apart like everyone else... But I didn't have to worry about that did I?" (Heartfelt) The same as above. This was not heartfelt in the slightest because of how rushed it was, and it was the same length with eight seconds being the time it took you to say that line. It's better to imagine this scene to be as though Koharu express hering true, honest emotions to the dear friend she's having a heart to heart discussion with. >> "I'm not good at being a school idol! I don't know what to do! I don't want to leave Ai♥doru, but I don't want to bring you all down! Waaaah!" (Miserable) Koharu is obviously distressed and miserable, this would be very emotional for her because the line conveys feeling lost and conflicted. She doesn't want to leave, but she's also not very good at being an idol in the first place. There should have been a much more upset tone than what you used. The "Waaah!" line didn't help how unemotional this line was portrayed. >> "I thought I could put up with this and that you'd understand that you've been hurting me, but you seriously don't know what you've done, do you!?" (Seething) Your seething line did not bring any of the emotional intensity this line had the potential for. I'm seriously not sure what else to say except that you should try practicing reading novels out loud with strong, intense emotions. You are good at reading out loud, but not so much in voice acting. My review of your second year cool talked about the power of your singing: "Your voice is really pretty (!) and soft, but it's a bit weak for a second year cool. I had chosen Strawberry Trapper as the recommended song choice because I checked out your previous auditions on CCC and I thought it would be able to bring a much more stronger voice from you. Maybe you could practice on projecting your voice? I don't think you'd have the same issue with being too soft while voice acting because it's something you have to act out." I have a really terrible memory, but did you audition for the first year pure because of your voice type being more complimented by songs you would be able to sing softly? All of the songs you picked were songs you would be able to sing softly- but remember why I suggested Strawberry Trapper for your second year cool audition? I was trying to see how you would be able to deal with difficult songs that required much more power than you usually sing. Pures, while they do have a pretty gentle voice most of the time, also have a lot of songs that require them to be much more blunt and have more power in their somewhat thin voices. (For µ's at least, I'm still not all that familiar with Aqours' singing voices.) And as I said before: Your voice IS very pretty and soft, but it's not exactly a voice we are able to utilise properly for idol-music (especially songs that would not compliment your voice) and voice-acting heavy project like this. Not sure what more I can say. I asked for you to audition again in hopes to hear how you'd voice act and if it had more power than your singing voice, and it does- but only because you were just reading them out with little to no acting emotion. Thank you for your audition and your enthusiastic dedication to this project, shinozakeh, but I think your voice acting really, really needs work.
