Character Description:  Shark is quite an arrogant guy.  Basically he’s the bully of the school, who uses trading cards to do his bidding.  His character undergoes quite a lot later down the road, but for the given scenes in the beginning of the series, he remains as this arrogant, tough guy.  For this duel though, he becomes possessed by the “Numbers”, which increases his aggression and his rude behavior.

Voice Description: Shark comes off as older than Yuma, despite being the same age.  His voice will be deeper but not too deep.  Kind of like a regular guy, except there will be hints of arrogance.  This tone doesn’t remain throughout the majority of this series, in fact, his cockiness ends up fading away after the first two episodes.  That being said, Shark does undergo a lot of character development and arcs, some of which deal with anger, the pain of loss, and despair.  If there ever is a decision to do a Zexal fandub again in the future, then the voice actor must be prepared to portray these emotions, if the specific scene requires it.

  • Shark is assured of his victory and proceeds to berate Yuma for his belief that he could've actually won the duel.

"What’s wrong?!  Did you actually believe that you had a chance at becoming Duel Champion with THOSE pathetic skills?  It’s all because you placed your faith in that stupid key that you can’t win a duel!"

Yuma retorts with a "You wanna say that again?!"

"I think you heard me right!  And how about, after I steal your deck, I take that key of yours and shatter it right in front of your face?!"

  • After summoning out a supposedly weak monster, Shark manages to turn the tables around quickly, ruining Yuma's moment of celebration.

"Don’t get cocky, just yet!  I’m activating Skull Kraken’s Monster Effect!  When Skull Kraken is successfully summoned, I can target one Spell or Trap Card on my opponent’s field and destroy it!  Say goodbye to your Wonder Wand!"

  • (Director's Note:  "Xyz" is pronounced "Exceez".  Like the word "Exceed" but replace the letter "D" with "Z" instead.)

The Numbers has taken control over Shark, giving him uncontrollable power, which causes him to summon out into the world Number 17: Leviathan Dragon.

"Ah!  What is this...power inside of me?  Aoooooohhhhhh!!!"

*Begins breathing heavily and fast for a bit and then screaming in pain* (Director's Note:  Please not too close to the mic though.  Please lower the gain.  It's kind of like those anime screams, if that makes sense?  I don't want my ears to be blasted listening to everyone's audition, haha.  Thanks everyone!)

"I overlay my Level Three Big Jaws and Level Three Skull Kraken!  With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network!  Emerge, Number 17: Leviathan Dragon!"

I'm glad you had a fun time with this audition! I was hoping people would, haha. I think you did a good job with the attitude for Shark as well, but for future reference, I'd say try flowing the words a bit faster. There were some pauses in between your sentences that would make it a bit hard to match a character's lip flaps in post. Saying the lines a bit faster would make it sound bit more nature, I'd say. All in all, I think you did a good job, and I thank you for auditioning!

Of course! In the case you do pick me, I'd watch out for the lip flaps and try to speed up the dialogue as much as I can, haha. Thank you for the opportunity once again!
