Superwisemon for Richard Sweeney
RICHARD SWEENEY -- AKA Ricky (by Mammon). Age 21, Male. Just starting college and already stressed out about the work he has to do. He's Fin's older brother, and probably one of the most organized people she's ever seen. He's not very open about himself and comes off as angry or annoyed by alot of things -- especially when they interfere with his very routine lifestyle. But Fin usually assumes it's because of Richard's insecurity about hiding his relationship with his boyfriend, Zane -- especially from their father, Lawrence. He's the Redemptor of the demon, Mammon.
Vocal Range: Normal Pitched
Vocal Personality: He tends to sound more annoyed than he actually is, but it's just a force of habit at this point. Not the most loving of people, so when he tries to be compassionate or kind, he sounds kind of awkward and almost like a tsundere. He also harbors a sense of greed with him, especially when it comes to protecting the things close to him and for furthering his ambitions overall in life.
Vocal Notes:
He comes off as kind of a jerk at the beginning of the story, but he appears throughout the story as someone who keeps an eye on Fin. Fin was the first person Richard told when it came to his relationship with Zane, and so he often goes to her for (most) of his issues. He usually sees Mammon as a tool, unlike the others who have formed bonds with their Praetora over time, which often leads to conflicts between himself and Mammon.
"Will you hurry up already? I'm going to be late if you keep dragging your feet." [pause then flustered] "No! I-It's not because of Zane. I've just... I've got alot of things to print out at the lab, and I have to go over my presentation notes. I can't do that here with Dad and his preaching!"
[sigh] "Fin... I know how hard it is for you right now, but you can't let yourself stay down like this. Sera... It sucks what happened, but you can't forget that Sera was a good person. She wouldn't want to see you like this. So come on... Let's go get something to eat."
"Tch... Of course it's up to us to be the responsible brother. [he sighs but get serious] Mammon, come to me! [he summons Mammon] You think you're the one in control, Beelzebub? You've got another thing coming. Go, Mammon! Take back what's mine!"
Max! I can't believe I didn't notice you had been auditioning on CCC from time to time. Well, it's good to hear you've still been active, voice acting wise. Anyway I've got to say, your performance really fits this character! From your delivery, the emphasis on the stress the character is under, and an overall tone that hints at a good person but is bogged down by stress and irritability. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you also get an equipment upgrade since I last heard from you? Either way it clearly makes a performance like this so much more freeing knowing you have great sound equipment to back you up, so you don't have to worry about reverb and such. Looks like it's my turn to catch up to you now man. ^^
Oh wow, thanks so much for commenting! It's been awhile! I've only just started to get back into consistently auditioning earlier this year; I've mostly been doing pretty dry e-learning and commercial things for a couple European translation clients, but I've missed the fun side of VO tons! And yeah, I moved from a Blue Yeti to a Rode NT1-A when my last student loan deposit came through last month, it's been serving me really well though I'm still getting used to it. Creepy, not creepy, but I could listen to this audition all day~ You have such a pleasant tone overall, and even if you're being all grumpy as Richard in the first line, I can't help but be all 'c: Yeah... You're gonna be late, so keep yelling at me.' I think it's actually really awesome! It's fits well with Richard and his kind of stoic, intelligent demeanor. That, and you've got that naturalness in his dialogue that makes his character really come to life. Wonderful! I think with the right characterization practices, you can really showcase Richard and his interesting... Interestingness! Wording is hard! I think the only real thing to note as feedback, I feel, is that there's some moments in the dialogue that I really would like to see hit in just the right way, for those who audition for Richard. Nothing that can't be remedied with a bit of directing and more context though! Of course, he's kind of the 'smarter' older brother and tends to get annoyed with how sugar-coated Fin can be, but he's got kind of these complex layers to him too. Not only is he the brother, but he's also got this darker sense of possessiveness towards the things that he deems his -- his family, his ambitions, some physical possessions -- but his family is the most important. If people mess with that... Then boy howdy, they better RUN. And when Richard brings out Mammon too, then you know someone messed up. He's passive when he needs to be, but he's got this secret kind of persona to him that makes him really intense when you force his hand. Showing that change from the older brother to this almost secret life persona will really show just how much of a threat Richard is! Beyond that as the kind of thing I see, I'm very excited about your audition! Thank you so much for your hard work, and keep on being fantastic!
