Male.  Late teens.  For someone so young, Curtis is quickly rising up the ranks as someone to be counted on in the thick of battle.  Many of his comrades praise the young man for his stoicism but, in reality, Curtis is painfully shy; the “perfect soldier” persona is one he puts on to keep people at a distance to prevent his social anxiety from affecting his performance.  Difficult to approach at first but when he lets someone into his small social circle, he's a friend for life.  Deep in his heart, Curtis is very reserved, mild-mannered and meek... perhaps to a flaw, since it can be construed as a lack of confidence.  But when those he loves are put in harm's way, Curtis goes full-on “beast mode” and is willing to give his own life to get them home.  God help the man who harms his little sister.

Voice type: medium / medium-high.  Aloof, but with an underlying warmth that shows when surrounded by the right company.

  • Laurent... What should I do? He came all this way to introduce himself, and I just completely blew him off.  It's all just a misunderstanding! Just, when people talk to me, my anxiety flares up and... I'm just no good at talking to people. Unless it's you or my sister...

  • Why didn't you fire? All you had to do was pull the trigger!

  • I, uh... I dunno about that. I've made my fair share of mistakes. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell right from wrong.  You're my best friend. Long as we stick together, I think we can make a difference.

This is what I get for doing homework and auditioning at the same time. Sorry about all of the typos!

I can tell that the emotional base for the lines are present. But it sounds to me that you're trying to force them a bit too much instead of just letting it happen naturally. Relax, be yourself, put your mind in the character's shows for how they'd react to the situation. Don't be afraid to change up how certain words are emphasized. Keep at it!
