Murray’s demeanor is very calm, sophisticated, but he’s by no means cold. This translates into his voice as he’s always watching his intonation and keeping it consistent. Still he doesn’t show a hint of letting his guard down when first dealing with the Wanderer, but as Wanderer continues to prove that he’s no ordinary person, Murray warms up to him and starts talking in a more casual, outgoing voice. The same effect goes towards his language, as he drops the formal language (“it is” become “it’s” and so on).
At one point in the story, Murray is tainted by "evil energy", which temporarily changes his personality quite a bit. He is much more devious and portrays himself with an even deeper tone and a bit of a cackle through his words. This is conveyed in the second line above.

To think of all the creatures of legend to appear, it is astonishing that the Millennium Gatekeeper himself would become your adversary... And even more so legendary is that you have triumphed over him.
