This is the first rehearsal with the band in its entirety. Dr. Sodders focuses on sight reading and learning the overall feel of a song, rather than practicing alone and showing up with the material memorized.
The band is playing their first public performance at Kickbutt Coffee. The small venue really brings the band together leaving no room for mistakes. Only a select few are able to participate, leaving the secondary seats out of the performance.
The band is faced with a guest professor from St. Edward’s University. His style is clearly different from Dr. Sodders. The band struggles to keep up with his new style.

Dr. Steven Sodders is a multi accomplished band director and performer. He has taught and directed over five schools, including the University of Texas, University of Kansas, and Austin Community College. He has been with ACC for the last twenty years…
Here, the band gets together for one final performance before the semester ends. Some will return for the following semester, others may have taken this class to fill out credits. Regardless of reason, they are all sitting in the auditorium together for one last note.
