The third and youngest son the Tsar, Ivan is rational and thoughtful where others would be brave. He often uses his words in place of weapons to win over potential rivals as allies and because of this is sometimes bullied by his brothers who conform to more traditional heroic stereotypes.
Everything in them has come to pass so far. The flaming bird, you . . . even travelling to a palace. (Pause) Is there a princess at our destination?
My brothers agree. They say I read and talk when I should act.
In my dreams I see myself on a wolfs back, riding along a forest path to do battle with . . . someone I can never quite see. In a land where a princess sits under lock and key in a palace of glass. And by night . . . a great bird pecks at golden fruit . . .
