Aanisah is a Muslim woman who came to America to escape her oppressive society, and she cares very deeply for her son, Evan. She used to be just as snarky as him, but age has mellowed her out a bit, though she still throws out the occasional snide remark. She struggles to be a single mother in a society that's almost as against her as her old one, but she refuses to give up.

*in response to the Principal's question* ...No, I'm sorry Mr. Buttstick. The fact is Evan's father and I had a divorce about five or so years ago, and the only male relatives he has that a re still alive are still in the old country.
