The Bellow of Brittle Stars - Audio Drama
Onesleepygenius for Dmitri Thomson - Geologist
A talkative jokester in the company of other people, always ready to debate and argue with a smile on his face. Gets very excited about geology, especially about examining the rock material that has strangely formed on a giant whale skeleton. In private, however, he enjoys being away from the stress of other people, and shows himself to be very sensitive and innocent in certain situations. I'd like his voice to be pretty high energy. Despite the name, he's not actually Russian. I'd prefer a North American accent for him.
"I get it. You want him to be like a teacher, bringing you up to speed on all the things you need to know, but he can save that for the classroom in my opinion."
[Arguing, but with a smile on his face. He's understanding of something someone else just said.]
"Of course it is! I have to make my lab sound good, you know. We've got a few different projects going, and I'm the go-to guy for collecting samples."
[Chipper, like he's striking a pose and doing a sales pitch.]
"This creature must have collided with something and it bent part of this structure, seperating the rocks here. You can see it's wider up there than it is on the floor, and we're between bones so it's probably weaker..."
[Serious sort of analysis as he's looking around, almost talking to himself more than explaining to someone else.]
Think you left a section in that you intended to edit out - check :08-:11. Also have a misread at :19 "this structure" instead of "this creature". I like your voice though, good luck!
Wow, I totally did, good catch, and thanks.
No problem!
I use that sound when I'm recording because it's easy to go over it in the edit because it's such a strong visual marker. :) I might resubmit. I'll ask the poster.
Yeah the clicker is actually a really good idea, I'm probably going to look into getting one after hearing it lol
I'm actually using my tongue, it's sort of a glottal click but it's sharp and loud, so it get's the job done. If you'd like a thing that makes a very similar sound but costs nothing you could use something like a Snapple cap or any cap like it and just dent it more in the direction towards the tamper evidence cap.
Oh, yeah that'd work. Thanks for the idea!
I used to make things like that all the time when I was little, I love noises, hence being able to do it with my tongue. It really does come in handy. Hope you get some use out of it! :)
I like the sounds of this, but I'd like to hear a more high energy version. Dmitri's an excitable guy, a class clown type. Also, although your Russian accent is very good, Dmitri is actually an American guy whose parents just liked Russian names. He has a brother named Nikolai for the same reason.
*Running towards Mic* I can do this.
