Kaze to Ki no uta [English Fandub]
The Central Perk Coffee House for Serge Battour
Serge is 15. He's the son of Count Aslan and Paiva, a former prostitute. Her mother being a Roma woman, he has a dark complection and is often discriminated because of that. He has a sweet heart, is generous and kind, and maybe a little too much innocent. He starts out with good intentions to help Gilbert, but as time progresses he feels both attracted and rejected by the boy. His feelings for him are constantly shifting, and he both feels pity for him, trying to help him make friends and thinking he could "save him", and contempt because of his sexual beheaviour. But he never acts meanly against him or, if he does, he instantly feels sorry for that. He has a passion for music and trully feels free when he's playing the piano.
I'd like Serge to have a medium voice. It has to be tender and sweet but at the same time, when needed, authoritarian (don't forget he has noble origins, and he knows it!). He's also really cheerful with his friends so he has to feel happy but also a sort of meditative, "artistic" soul at the same time. I accept both male and females for this role but I'd prefer having someone with a deeper voice than Gilbert for his role. Also, it may be required to the one who is chosen to do some longer speeches, since the story is told from Serge's point of view and we hear his inner thoghts.
*happily* Professor Watts... Carl... They approached me right away! I'm so glad I came here! *pause* *wondering* What's wrong, I wonder? Why doesn't he come to his room? Gilbert... I wonder how he is...
*shouting* Take that back! *angry* Take it back! Take it back! How can you call him "dirty"? Are you so clean yourself? All men are dirty! You're dirty for saying awful things about Gilbert when he's never done anything to you!
*crying* Leave me alone! *to himself, still crying* Why? Why does my heart feel this way? It's your fault, Gilbert! Gilbert...!
Oh my God I didn't think you'd fit on Serge, but this far you're one I like the most! Just a quick note, the name 'Gilbert' should be pronounced in his french pronunciation
Thank you so much! I thought I would give his role a shot
I just want to tell you a couple of things (if I comment it's because I'm interested in your audition, believe me, not to be silly XD): in the first line, when he says 'Gilbert', he is not angry or stuff (he's rarely angry with Gilbert, actually, and here he's reflecting on what he heard about him before they meet), he's just wandering how he might be. In the second line he's arguing with a person and it's actually one of the few times he's properly angry and furious. But I didn't said it here so I can see why you have him this interpretation. The last line should be heartbroken, from the first 'leave me alone', to that last 'Gilbert' which is said basically completely broken by the situation and by what he's doing to him. Sorry to be so precise, but I just have a certain idea about how those characters are, enforced also by the fact that it's a dubbing, so please forgive me ^^'
You are totally fine. Thank you for the feedback. (The first line wasn't meant to be angry, so sorry that got misunderstood.) This is very helpful. With this, would you like me to re-record at all? Or are you okay with this audition?
If you have time I'd like you to, but of course I won't tell you that you absolutely have to XD
Okay, I'll re-record ASAP
