Gods and Monsters; A Hetalia Comic [Artists and VAs Needed]
NateyJ for America [Alfred Jones]
America is not yet the hero he will become in canon - he is yet to be shaped by his revolution and the harsh reality of being a nation. As of this, he is still rather immature and oblivious, but much smarter than people give him credit for, as well as a lot more selfish. He has a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong initially, but also a desperate desire to make England notice him as an equal, rather than as an inferior. America is extremely prideful, if inexperienced, and although he has been sheltered from the horrors of war due to being brought up with England, he is prepared to do anything to win his independence. For all he denies it, he and England are very similar - both have tempers, and the thirst for power, and put their nations and this power-hunger over their family and friends. America sees himself not as England, however, but as the manifestation of what the New World should represent - something that only adds to his arrogance that grows after he wins his war. He doesn't give much regard as to how his opinion or actions affect others until the consequences come back to bite him; all he cares about is showing England he is worthy of being equal if not greater, and keeping his people happy and free.
(to Canada) Look, this looks bad, but you have to believe me, I’m not doing this because I want to, Canada. I’m doing it because it’s the only way to get the old man’s attention. He’s killing my men, and I’ve had enough! This is the only way he'll pay attention. You understand, right?
(angrily, should get more angry as it goes on) I’m not just one of your puppets, ready to be controlled and made to dance to your music! I might be young, but goddamn, I’m old enough to know what’s wrong and right. You might have tried to hide me away from my destiny this far, but you can’t do it for any longer. This is who I am. This is who I deserve to be. I’m not your son any more, England, and you're not my father. It’s time to put an end to this.
(nervous, to Prussia) Yeah, that would be great! Uh, I mean – yes please, sir, that would be much appreciated. I promise to work hard, and- and I swear you won’t regret this. Helping me, I mean. It’ll certainly piss off Britain, that’s for sure. D’you think he’ll be mad at me?
