Role assigned to: Poltroon

This script is actually a rather large one. You can see it here:

Voice and age:

Looking for a voice that ideally sounds anywhere from 35+.  I will immediately disqualify any auditions that sound like a 15-22 year old male VA. I realize that other Fallout projects here on Casting Call Club accept younger-sounding male actors but I don't recall any young male adult VAs in Fallout games (Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout Tactics, Fallout: New Vegas) and they sound out-of-place in Fallout. (Sticky and Myron were both acted by 40 year olds so they don't count)

Tone:

Should have the tone of a soldier. Baritone would be ideal. Will not take younger VAs trying to "act tough" with gruff voices. Looking for a natural baritone voice.

Personality:

This actually is a difficult role because Captain Curtis is two-faced. He acts one way when he is speaking to civilians. But he acts entirely different if you are a spy. The audition lines are a good demonstration of the range needed for his lines.

Accent:

North-American. No exceptions. Any semblance of an accent and I'd have to politely ask for a second audition with no accent.

  • (warning someone) (military tone)

What are you doing here? You don't have clearance.

(friendly) (military tone) (friendly tone) (acquaintance)

Trouble sleeping again, huh? Well, do yourself a favor - try and get some rest.

    (Disgusted) (someone has wronged you)

(You should be yelling this line) (Someone you absolutely despise)

(Should not sound monotone) (Should not be a snarl) (Should be a half-yell)
Get the hell out of my sight!

(Slight cunning to his voice) (but still a military tone) (talking about a spy)

....Smart man........ I could use somebody who can operate under the radar around here. Whoever our mole is, he's been slippery. Whenever one of the MP's gets too close, he changes his habits.

    (Shh!!!!!!) (spy to spy)

Christ, keep it down! You want to blow the whole thing? We've worked years for this.

(Your plan is working) (Slightly dark tone) (things are working just as you planned)

Perfect....(smiling).... This has turned out better than I'd ever imagined.

(Scheming) (happy) (rewarding a spy) (shouldn't sound like a thief or a fiend but more like a soldier) (cunning) (manipulative) (tricky to pull off)

This will pay dividends for the Legion for a long time to come.... I was with Hsu (shoe) when the bomb went off. He'll never think to investigate me for it.

(Don't say Caesar like see-zur. Say it as Kai-zarr)

(Kai like sky) (zahr like czar or bizarre) Ky-zahr

(Sense of pride in his words) (You are doing the master's bidding)

I'll make sure Caesar (NOT See-zhur) himself hears about your success today.

(Should be said sarcastically) (didn't like Crenshaw) (killed Crenshaw)

Poor Crenshaw. He's pulled his last prank.

    (Proposing a terrorist attack)

Good. Try to plant the explosives quietly if you can - you'll make both our lives easier.

(Plan failed) (years of your work down the drain)

    (Should be shouting)
(You lost everything because of one man's careless mistake)

    (Fury)
What?!!! You idiot!!!!! I spent years earning his trust. The whole point of you heading up this operation was to preserve that trust!

Sections of his audio definitely have a Frumentari Legion vibe to them. Also the AT2020 just sounds so good on so many auditions. I think the inflection on some of his louder, angrier lines don't have the anger and frustration I'm looking for but the voice is definitely a great voice for a cold, cool, cunning and manipulative sort of person. Probably would have been something similar to Vulpes Inculta. All of this sounds Greek if you haven't played the game btw so disregard what's being written here.

Would you like me to retry the angrier lines, or am I too far off for this character? It's not a problem either way and thank you for the feedback!

Holy shit dude, you are literally Crispin Freeman. Like there's no debate, there is nothing about your voice that isn't him. Good to meet a celebrity xD
