[CLOSED] Brave New World: The Final Chapter
cellblockpsycho for Clanden (A serial killer) (high difficulty acting role)
Need to do a recast of Clanden. Originally voiced by Jesse Burch and then later revoiced by Domjam, I need to recast this role because Cachino (also voiced by Domjam) is too close to Clanden (also voiced by Domjam).
Looking for an actor that can convey an extreme range of emotions.
Personality:
Not much is known about Clanden's history. On the surface he appears to be a peaceful and relatively normal person, but further investigation reveals a much darker reality. Clanden is a serial killer who kills female escorts and makes snuff video tapes. Mentally off. Not outwardly mean or cruel...outwardly polite. But from the way he speaks, someone should think, "Something is seriously wrong with him.." Something like that. Hard to explain...Odd fellow. Lives in a small room and doesn't let sunlight in.
Outwardly polite but...off. Think the Trinity Killer in Dexter. Or Robin Williams in the movie, "One Hour Photo."
When prodded, other areas of his personality begin to show.
Age:
30 years+. Will immediately disqualify any auditions that sound like a 17-21 year old actor.
Accent:
Must be North-American. I.........may be open to a British accent but would very much prefer a North American accent.
Tone:
Any. What matters more isn't his tone of voice, ie. low-medium, etc. Rather, whether he fits the personality and he sounds 35+ years old.
Persona:
There's a scene in the Sixth Sense. A scene with the character, Vincent Grey. You no longer can see any videos on Youtube (due to copyright) and because it's a very old movie but there's a particular scene where a patient in only underwear is in a bathroom. Looking for something like that. Clanden acts normal...until...you dig deeper.

4 MINUTES and on

Intimidation
Unstable
Tormented
Friendly:
Hey, nice to meet you. Do you need help with something?
(Denies at first) (Nervous)
Tapes in a safe?........... I'm sorry......... I don't understand.....What are you talking about?!(shakes his head)
(Sees the tape)(mutters under his breath in fright) (investigator is prying) (may go to prison) (gets caught) (scared for his life)
……..How did you?!!......... (heavy breathing) (scared) Ok. ok.. What do you want? (heavy breathing) What do you want from me?
(threatens you) (has a bomb) (threatening)
You see this? (Shows you a metal cylinder) I press this button here........ and *all* of Gomorrah burns to the ground....You don't want me to do this....... Do you?........... I've watched you.............I've seen what you've done....... ...(sadly) I know you can kill me........I'm giving you a choice......... You can kill me........or......you can give me the tape and we both walk away nice and quietly.
(looks away pensively...then slowly looks you straight in the eyes) (disturbing)
They’re not all dead. (small undertone laugh) They'll just fester and rot (laughing)
(in front of a psychiatrist)
(confused) (distraught) (unstable) (sad) (excited) (Has to sound mentally ill) (should sound tormented) (should sound like he doesn't enjoy what he does but he can't help it) (disturbed)
I……I don’t know....….I..I just *have* to. .....I can’t explain it….(getting excited while he says this) it makes me happy. It brings me joy….. You wouldn’t understand…. No one understands…….. (disturbing voice) But…I I LOVE doing this. And (crying and laughing at the same) And I don’t know why......... (laughs)....(whispers) (smiling with tears in his eyes) It makes me happy.
hmm...you actually are getting a lot of the inflection on each of the lines. Unfortunately there are some issues with the mic. That sound and mic quality isn't where I'd like it.
Yeah, I have a Blue Yeti Mic, but for some reason it just picks up the quietest noises and it's something that I currently don't know how to fix.
As a previous Yeti owner, I can help. Put the GAIN at around 25% on the knob. Then choose the setting that looks like a heart (cardioid) mode. Then on your computer go to the mic settings and go to Control Panel --> Sound --> recording --> Blue Yeti --> and put your Levels at around 10, as in 10 out of 100. Make sure that the top of the Yeti (rounded part) is pointed upwards towards the top. Bring the mic closer to you but speak towards the Label, which is towards the (BLUE) and (Mute) and (Volume) side of the Blue yeti. Then make sure you are in an enclosed area, if possible, when recording. Basically....you are lowering all of the gain and lowering the power of the Yeti but you are speaking closer to it. That should improve the quality of the sound of the Yeti.
Alright, thank you. I'll give it a try and see how that turns out.
