Unpaid
Role assigned to: PontiacSilver

Reason for change:

I am revoicing this character because he's supposed to be one of the toughest characters in Fallout: New Vegas and he doesn't sound very imposing.

Character bio:

Information about Scrambler is here:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Scrambler

All of Scambler's lines are in his audition. When I picture Scrambler, I picture someone you don't want to mess with. Threatening, imposing, dangerous, a guy you don't want to fight with.

Here's a voice signature but use any voice you feel fits a brooding, hulking person.

  • What are you looking at? (threatening)
Will you quit bothering me? (irritated)
{Eddie alive} I keep an eye on my buddy Eddie. Anybody messes with him and I scramble them real good.
{Eddie dead} (should sound slightly sad) Used to guard Eddie, but not anymore.

Why? It's because I mess up people so bad they don't know what part goes where when I'm done.

    That's right. Fuck off.

Not much, just killed a bunch of people. Maybe a couple of kids, too....Whatever.

Dynamite. Lots and lots of dynamite. You should've seen the body parts flying everywhere.

    Uh-huh.

    Yeah.

A couple things. The tone is right but he fits for other characters. He sort of gives me a Mccree vibe, which actually works for New Vegas. Main issue though is the mic. You may have to change the settings on the Blue Yeti. Try if this works. Audacity volume at 0.11. Put your Gain at about 25% on the knob. Choose the ass-crack (cardoid) mode. Go to Sound. Double click the Yeti. Click on Levels. Choose 10. Also make sure to record in a dead-quiet room.

Would you like me to redo the audition for this character with the suggested settings? Or would you like it for another particular character you have open/open in the future?

Can you try out the role of the Lonesome Drifter? Curious to see how it would sound with the same voice but a much more clear mic.

Thank you very much for not only critiquing but helping me solve a few problems. As I am just recently getting back to using my Yeti, I'd like to clarify a few of your suggestions. By Audacity Volume, do you mean the recording volume slider? I assume the gain knob would be on the mic itself? And when you say "go to sound" for levels and such, I think you are probably assuming I used windows. I have a mac, and I assume the equivalent would be to go to system preferences, select the Yeti and put it's input volume all the way up?

Yes, and no. Audacity volume recording = yes. Gain knob is on the mic. But for the Mac volume settings, you don't want that on max. Mine is 10 out of 100. So very low. It's because the Yeti picks up very little sound around it so you have to lower its power.

So by having things low, that means I can do project my voice more without having to worry about clipping and peaking so much. And I won't have to talk quieter. Also I record my lines in a car. Alright expect an audition from me for the Drifter today.

Ah. Sure thing. Also! Don't record in a car!! If anything, record in a closet. XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VRlubjTUBo

Thanks for the video, i watched a few other tips by the guy. Unfortunately for the most part, I will have to record in the car. I might put like a sweatshirt over myself or something.
