Maria Khardas:


    Maria is the wife of King Khardas, and the queen of the kingdom of Arna. For many, many years she has bore the troubles, tribulations, and war that has come to their doorstep. Through it, she has grown from a scared little teenager to a strong and resilient woman. She has long sense forgotten the romance and love she once knew before the war. She may have kept her eternal beauty, but underneath lie a sea of scars. 

    Maria and Garend Khardas raised two daughters, and their eldest son Ithilian. Itilian is a strong, independent, adventurous young man who wishes nothing else but to help his people and bring about peace. Their eldest daughter Mesime' (Mez-eh-may) is a perfect lady and is able to charm any man she wishes with her grace and feminine wiles. But for all her beauty, she lacks the heart that made her mother a true queen. Finally, their youngest daughter Cecily is the accident prone, lazy, adventurer wanna be. Cecily wishes to be like the famous heroes in the stories her father and mother read to her when she was growing up. She is the life of the family and a bright light that they need to stay sane. Her hilarious antics and funny remarks help to liven up their tense situations.

    Maria sees a lot of her in Cecily, which is why she is desperately trying to teach her all the things she has learned over the years. But Cecily, like her mother, isn't interested in such things. She wants adventure, excitement, comfort, and most of all, love. So, for Cecily to bring home a man is both troublesome and worrying for her. She doesn't want her to make the wrong choice, and have her heart broken.

    Maria is a lady, first and foremost. She also has a regal air about her. She is graceful, intelligent, witty, and stubborn! She most likely will have a Scottish or British accent. But, you are free to try another accent if you so wish. 

  • (happy and relieved) "My darling daughter, I am so relieved to see you back home safe and sound.  (confused) And, who, is this man? (worried and a little bit annoyed) An outsider? Do you think such a man is worthy of you? My daughter *sighes* when will you learn that you are a princess. One day you will be queen, you cannot chase these thoughts of love and adventure. Be reasonable darling."

  • (angry) "Did you hear our daughter tonight? Going on and on about this, Nicholas? He is a bad omen, and has already had an ill effect upon our daughter. (incessed) She needs to grow up is what she needs!"

  • (apologetic and saddened) "My darling daughter, I am so sorry. I did not see what he meant to you. Please, I beg your forgiveness. (fighting back tears) Would you forgive an old woman, who has forgotten what it meant to love?"
