Acting for the most part as the narrator of Dark Nights: Metal, Carter Hall is the partner of Kendra who was similarly locked in a cycle of reincarnation. A skilled detective, he gathered a team to investigate the dark multiverse, though he himself succumbed to the darkness. His journal is all that remains of the man he once was, now acting as the Dragon of Barbatos.


For Carter's voice, I'd like a medium-low voice that sounds thoughtful and wise. However, when performing lines as the Dragon of Barbatos, his voice should be much lower and threatening sounding. Note that you will have to a large amount of narration should you be cast as Carter!

  • (narrating) The end will begin with a shot fired from the dark, something to tear a hole in reality.

  • (narrating, remorseful) I give this journal to you for a simple reason... to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I was wrong. And I'm sorry for everything coming. 

  • (Dragon of Barbatos, intimidating, booming) I am Carter Hall, Dragon of Barbatos, Keeper of the Dark Forge. And there are only endings here.
