First-year student at Kasugayama High.  He is one of the main character in the story and a close friend of Yukari Nejima. Both being classmates.  Although he does not have romantic feelings for Misaki, Yukari mistakenly thinks that Yūsuke is also in love with her. Yūsuke is a laid-back individual. He is outspoken and displays a calm and composed attitude.  Despite being extremely popular for his look, Yūsuke doesn't like to be the center of attention and, as a result, is distant and prefers to stay away from people, having only few friends at school.  Around Yukari, Yūsuke exposes a softer attitude. Probably due to the fact that they are close friends, Yūsuke seems to be worried for his friend when the latter opens up about his fears and problems; something that he normally does not do with anybody else.
