John Egbert is a NERD. A huge dork. He loves video games, old movies, and playing pranks on his Dad. He usually comes off as pretty oblivious to a lot of the nefarious antics in the comic, leaving a lot of the more serious action to his friends, but is ready to step up when the time comes.
EB: ok, well you keep saying how doomed we are and how all this bad stuff happens sooner, but you never say why!
EB: what happens in our game that's different from yours that makes things go so badly?EB: oh but, like...
EB: i don't think i am actually saving the world here. :(
EB: i dunno what i'm really accomplishing but i guess it's not that.
I like the voice a lot, but i think you got John's demeanor wrong- John doesn't stammer, he can actually be very snarky at times, and is usually confident/optimistic. Have you read Homestuck before? : o
I have not actually. I just went with my best nerd voice. I can change the demeanor and stammer as well. Just wanted to try and bring a little life to the audition. However, if I did get the role, I would start researching right away to get the most authentic representation for John. This was just simply my baseline audition with a voice I'm comfortable with.
Yeh- That's cool, but I recommend you look into homestuck now- just a little- because its a VERY VERY LONG story, 10000 pages+, and look into a few john dialogues (basically most conversations take place through pesterlogs which is a computer chat client, and that really goes a long way when you're trying to say some of these lines, because of how online messages get delivered by a "one by one" linear fashion)
This is actually well done. The EQ on the audio is a bit weird, but the performance itself is pretty damn solid
