Trace is Speed Jolteon's childhood friend. Back then, they used to work together as a researcher team.
Since there's no official bios yet, it'll be based on assumptions from what I interpret and read so please bear.
Anyways, for Trace, being his childhood best friend, that would mean it would be important and help if a childlike voice could be executed as well once the Special Chapters rolled around since he was a Shinx there.
But, don't worry, since he's now older as of the main chapters, a male voice is essential, but if ever there's no suit for a child voice either, I might reopen him for casting as Child. ^^;
Another thing to mind is that according to the creator PKM himself, he wanted Trace to have a similar voice to Speed Jolteon or Flare Flareon, since he has the same personality as Jolteon, yet more relaxed than him.
