CALDER ASH — Master-at-Arms, The Scarlet Tempest
Age range: Mid-30s (character is 36)
Voice type: Firm, controlled — steady command presence, not booming
Character: Calder ensures the crew is combat-ready at all times, maintaining order during battle and overseeing training drills. Strict and disciplined on the surface, with deep, quiet loyalty to the captain and crew underneath. Also asexual — worth noting for any future character material involving his personal life.
Voice direction: Economical, no-nonsense delivery — a man who doesn't waste words. The discipline should read as competence, not coldness; let small moments of dry humor or protectiveness slip through without undercutting the control.
The sides they read from:
"Lines ready! Hold until he's in range — don't waste the first volley!"
"Everyone gets dramatic about something." — (beat) "Add it to the list. There's always a list."
"Only if you want an honest answer." / "That reef didn't do us any favors."
