Character Description

Professor Hector Valis is an anthropologist and citizen of the Solis Imperium, a nation west of Robur, far across the ocean. 

Nine years ago, the Soils Imperium ran a destructive military campaign where they invaded the border islands lining Robur's west coast and, over a 3 year period, sacked Nero, the central and largest border island. 

He is a seemingly austere man of sun elf descent, who has spent a large part of his career studying communities and the people that form them. He is currently a political refugee in Robur, where he has been permitted to practice as a professor and research supervisor.

During the events of the Pilot, he is part of a three person team who have secured a grant from the Anthropological department of Minerva University in Valentis, to study the ruins of Silva Magna. They are attempting to prove a hypothesis that some of the ruins are from different time periods and/or are related to completely different societies. This is a hotly contested hypothesis in academic circles. 

He works closely with Julia Velo, one of his former students, and Torris Vindinum, a colleague who specialises in archeology. 

Main Things to Know about Hector:

• He is in his late 40s.

• He is an intensely private person, and will only reveal personal information when it is absolutely required. He will usually weigh up dangers to others or himself (in that order) to assess whether information needs to be revealed or disclosed.

• He fits the standard professor archetypes, in that he is patient and measured with a focus on turning most conversations into a learning opportunity.

• He has no particular love for Robur, but is clearly running away from something in the Solis Imperium, and Robur is his best bet at protection. 

  
  

Performance notes:

• A Greek accent is strongly preferred.

• A deep and clear tone of voice is required, as the character should come across as very disciplined, but warm.

• Line delivery should be slow and deliberate. Hector is always in control of any conversation he is a part of.
