Unlike most interpretations of Kris, The Shadowed Prince AU gives them far more freedom. Rather than hiding the existence of the SOUL, everyone is aware of the Prophecy and the bond they share. Kris has learned to live alongside it, treating the SOUL less like a curse and more like a stubborn companion: sometimes teasing it, sometimes scolding it, and occasionally even confiding in it.

With greater freedom over their own actions, Kris embraces a more carefree and theatrical outlook on life. They spend their time playing the piano, flirting shamelessly, and masking their worries behind wit and confidence. Beneath that playful exterior, however, they struggle with the responsibility of keeping the peace between the people they care about.

Kris acts as the bridge between Lightners and Darkners, always trying to ease conflict before it grows. They quickly take a liking to Ralsei, charmed by his innocence and sincerity, though they slowly begin to suspect he is far more important than anyone realizes. Torn between honesty and protecting him from the truth, Kris struggles with the burden of knowing more than they can say.

Everyone is welcome to audition for Kris’s role. We are looking for certain charm and energy but the vocal texture is open to interpretation.

Kris should sound calm, witty, and effortlessly confident, often using humor and charm to deflect from what they're really feeling. Their playful banter should feel genuine, but there also should be some sort of nuance attached to their persona. They are a performer at heart, someone who can effortlessly switch between teasing, sincerity, and vulnerability.

• Line one: Kris caught Susie intimidating and threatening a classmate, which is the last thing the duo needs as they need to maintain an image with their higher-ups. (pairs with Susie’s 2nd audition line)

• Line two: Kris and Susie find and meet Ralsei for the first time, and Kris suspects that he may be the missing prince from the prophecy that they’ve been trying to find for 2 years straight. Kris is trying to convince Susie that this is the guy. They’re also trying to be quiet so Ralsei, who is about 15ft away from them, doesn’t hear.

• Line three (only 1 take recommended): Kris wants Ralsei to come along with them so they can fulfill the prophecy, and uses Ralsei’s missing parent, Seam, as a crutch to convince him, saying that they’ll help look for Seam if he agrees to come along with them. Kris puts on a theatrical mask and tries to do a convincing performance for Ralsei.
