Head of production

Compensation: $100 per completed and approved milestone

The Head of Production is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the overall production structure and workflow of PocketHeart Studio’s projects. They work directly with the Studio Founder/Director and oversee the Producer, helping ensure that creative goals are translated into realistic, organized production plans.

The Head of Production serves as the primary bridge between studio leadership, production management, and department leads.

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with the Founder/Director to develop and maintain the overall production plan.

• Oversee the Producer and support them in coordinating departments, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.

• Help establish, document, and maintain the production pipeline across departments.

• Coordinate with Heads of Department to ensure each team understands its responsibilities, deadlines, dependencies, and required deliverables.

• Track overall production progress and identify scheduling, communication, or workflow issues before they significantly affect production.

• Help establish realistic production timelines and milestone structures.

• Ensure smooth handoffs between departments, such as writing, visual development, storyboarding, 3D production, sound, and post-production.

• Organize and participate in production and HOD meetings when necessary.

• Help determine priorities when multiple departments require resources or decisions simultaneously.

• Work with the Producer to maintain clear internal documentation and production schedules.

• Communicate significant production risks, delays, staffing needs, or organizational issues directly to the Founder/Director.

• Help improve the studio’s production systems as the team and projects grow.

• Ensure that production decisions remain aligned with the Director’s approved creative vision while remaining achievable within the project’s resources and schedule.

Ideal candidate:

We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, communicative, reliable, and comfortable taking responsibility for a large production workflow. Experience with animation, film, game, or other creative-production pipelines is strongly preferred.

The Head of Production should be comfortable working closely with both creative and organizational teams and be able to turn broad production goals into clear, actionable plans.

This is a senior production leadership position. The Head of Production reports directly to the Founder/Director and works closely with the Producer and Heads of Department.

Payment: $100 per completed and approved milestone.
