Harold Mercer / Mimicked Voice

Harold Mercer was Evelyn Mercer’s husband, who died several years before the events of the game. He is never encountered alive; his voice is heard through an old telephone after the entity inside the house begins imitating him.

The voice should initially sound warm, familiar and reassuring—the kind of voice Evelyn would immediately recognise and want to trust. However, subtle unnatural pauses, repeated words and misplaced emotion should gradually reveal that the speaker is not really Harold.

The performance must remain restrained and believable. Harold should not sound like an obvious monster or stereotypical horror villain. The unsettling quality should come from an otherwise loving voice saying things in a slightly unnatural way.

Voice age: approximately 60–80. General American accent preferred. Approximately 5–10 lines. A clean microphone and the ability to provide unedited WAV recordings are required.
