BACKGROUND:
Jack was a loving brother to Charlotte Kane (wife of the murdered William Kane). They were close ever since they were children, each inspiring the other. Whilst Charlotte had a mind for money and business, Jack was the artist. If only he could decide on a path. At times he’d be a writer, a painter, a composer. And each time a career failed, Charlotte made no judgment to bail her brother out of a bind.
Jack always felt William hated him for it. When Charlotte died, Jack was devastated – yet he couldn’t help but feel something was off about the timing of it. So he went to confront William, only he ended up interrupting William during some kind of ritual that left his psyche broken. What Jack saw cost him his mind, and any time he tried to describe it, doctors were assured to consign him to a straitjacket. In the paperwork however, William made sure to note that Jack was trying to falsely incriminate him for Charlotte’s murder. That explanation pleased the courts.
Jack awaits in his padded cell, desperate for someone to believe the dark things he saw trying to cross over into this world.
