Penny is a non-speaking autistic child. While she doesn’t have lines, the character still vocalizes, shrieks when she’s scared, and stims throughout the episode. A young performer on the autism spectrum is STRONGLY preferred for this role.

She is reserved, but curious, and has a “free” quality about her resulting from an abundance of supportive and loving adults in her life and a complete absence of cruelty. Despite not speaking words, she should be able to show a range of emotions including excitement, fear, doubt, boredom, lost-in-thought “stimming”, and overflowing joy.

  • Context: you, four years old and autistic, are running around a room with your frog plushie absent-mindedly stimming.

  • Context: you are being presented with a food that overwhelms your senses. Struggle at first, culminating over ten seconds into a shriek.

  • Context: you are afraid to eat something, but when you bite it, it’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever had.
