today?" or "Are you free at 8?" or even "Hey Percy, sorry I kinda
dropped off the face of the earth after high school, but it's been 5
years and I'd like to see you, how's 8 sound?" (she takes a deep breath
to cool herself) I was willing to accept that college had just separated
us, I didn't want to, but after daily texts became weekly then trickled
to monthly until finally not answering at all, I got the message. She
had moved on with her life and it was time for me to do the same. (she
pauses for a minute) But why now? After all these years of nothing, why
does she suddenly declare that she's gonna be here now?”
