The late father of the protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira. The story sets up with his death, but the story revolves around him and his legacy in a sort of way that he haunts the narrative. He is an extremely important character despite his fate in chapter 1, having a history with or an effect on just about every character in the story and being in countless flashbacks.

He is Japan’s most renowned swordsmith, having forged extremely powerful magical katana known as the Enchanted Blades to turn the tide of the Seitei War ending in Japan’s victory. His death at the hands of the Hishaku would drive Chihiro onto a path of revenge to confront the Hishaku and retrieve his father's blades that were stolen.

He is overall a very silly, carefree, and lackadaisical man, shown from his chummy yet strong relationship with Chihiro and his ineptitude for household chores, but when it comes to his work or serious matters, he is a very different person. In his workshop, he is a dedicated and serious craftsman, fully committed to his work and utterly without humor. He is wholeheartedly devoted to his forge, his son, and the fate of Japan during the time of the war.
