This character is a rebellious, resentful tomboy who adapts a way of talking to sound tough and sardonic. There's still very much a girlishness about her, but at this point of her life she'd rather suppress it. She loves spending time with her grandfather, who tells her "war stories" that are more just "job stories".
I’m sure that when the old teal Thunderbird rolls up by the front of Gigi’s, Frank lets out a troubled sigh through the kitchen slit window. I could almost hear the satisfying pop that a loaf of SPAM makes when it leaves its aluminum home. That’s pretty much the only enjoyable aspect of SPAM.
