The Archivist has been here longer than anyone. They speak rarely. When they do everyone stops. They deliver genuinely disturbing information with the warmth and calm of someone describing pleasant weather. The horror is not in what they say. It is in how completely unbothered they are saying it.
Voice direction: Unhurried. Almost warm. Ancient and knowing without being theatrical about it. No dramatic pauses, no ominous tones — the scariest thing about this character is how normal they sound. Underplaying is the entire performance.
Reference: someone who has seen everything so many times that nothing surprises them anymore, and has found a kind of peace in that. Devastating through stillness not through drama.
(noticing, mildly interested) "A new arrival. Already talking to everyone."
(recounting facts, no particular emotion) "They were thorough. More organized than most. They got further than anyone before them."
(already turning away, fading back into the dark) "You'll understand eventually. They all do."
