James is very proud of his splendid red paintwork. He dislikes pulling trucks (though not to the extent that Gordon does) and is quite narcissistic, vain and occasionally boastful. This has caused him to have somewhat of a rivalry with several engines and in some cases act out. In most cases, it takes scolding from others to make his penny drop, and even then, it is too late to prevent trouble. However, on a number of occasions, he has found himself in need of help from those whom he has insulted and is, in the end, apologetic. He is normally hard-working and (like everyone else) wants to be responsible, reliable and really useful on the railway.
The voice I aiming for James is one of the iconic voices of the television series of Thomas the tank engine, Michael Angelis' James sells the delivery of vain vibes as well as having his moments to show off.

*boastful* "You know, little Toby, I'm an important engine now; everybody knows it. They come in crowds to see me flash by. The heaviest train make no difference. I'm as regular as clockwork. They all set their watches by me. Never late, always on time, that's me."
*grumpy* "My wheels were feeling warn out with work, which isn't so hot when your red." *pause* "I was being naughty, so Sir Topham Hatt, shut me in the shed to think of all the ways to be a more useful engine, and when I have, I can come out again."
*Worried* "It's not looking good lads, Mr C is not at the forest as he said, I look all around."
