  • ELIZABET: Mmmm. Sorry, Caien. Seems you should focus on your spelling first. [CAIEN: What?] ELIZABET: Your sign. [CAIEN: (realizing, dismayed) Not again.] ELIZABET: (spelling what he’s written) L-A-V-E-N-D-U-R. Hmmm. And here I thought our lovely town was Lavendre. (Lahv-en-dray)

  • ELIZABET: (a little embarrassed) Oh... Darrow, thank you for the kindness but I can’t just take this. [food]

  • ELIZABET: (to her little brother) GO WASH! You look and smell like a pig. If you’re going to play in the mud by the creek at least wash yourself when you’re through. I’ll make you something. [LATER] A hidden treasure in our kitchen floor? What’s in here, anyway. She unwraps the package and weathered pages crinkle beneath her fingers, somehow preserved throughout the years. (A wind blows through, flipping the pages and rustling.) [WHISPERING WIND: Rosalliaaa.] ELIZABET: (whispered) What are you?
