my pirate needs a voice
David Edwards for Koya
Queer man in his early-mid 20s. "Default" American accent, but honestly feel free to play with it. If you can do it, you can try to sneak a tiny bit of an Arabic accent in there with some of your takes (no specific dialect in mind. let me know which one specifically you did if you decide to take this on!). Baritone. More middle-range than low, but I'm open to whatever. I implore you to try out even if you don't fit anything here.
Koya is a pirate! He's also a pirate in the world of One Piece, so you've gotta be willing to get just a little silly with it. He's rough around the edges. He likes drinking, partying, and adventure. Koya, having grown up in the slums of the city of Brineport, doesn't have a formal education and certainly sounds like it. But he is intuitive and quick-witted--something reflected by his Devil Fruit power, which allows him to turn into a raven and half-raven hybrid at will. Not at all far beneath all of that, he's a kind and compassionate person who feels very deeply; a stark difference from the cynical, downtrodden, flightless bird he was before the Straw Hats came along. He's not super high-energy, and I'd like to see a little bit of gruffness in his voice.
Here is his Toyhouse page if you want to see where the audio will ultimately be posted or want to see more info about him.

(introducing self) "New to the Undertow, are you? They call me Koya. I'm just a sailor."
(slightly surprised, in response to compliment) “Most people freak out a little when I show up like this. Y’know. Giant talking bird and all.”
(shouting, disbelief) "What are you-- You can't just *play* with the cannon!"
