The Rookie: A Halo Fan Film
Andre Hutcherson for CPL Taylor "Dutch" Miles [Voice Impression: Adam Baldwin] (Male)
Note: For this character and anyone else with this note included, there may be only a very small role involved. These roles will have lines from the books, which are never voiced, because of this it would also then be ideal that the same voice actors replace the characters lines from in-game as well, so that within the film the audience can make the connection between the two. If voice actors can be successfully obtained for these characters I will be able to consider expanding the line selection from the book to encompass more of that story.
CORPORAL DUTCH [Voice Impression: Adam Baldwin]:
Official Depiction Overview [How he is presented in the canonical work]:
Dutch is the rough, gruff, heavy weapons specialist. He begins his debut mission with a squad of marines and an all-terrain 4x4 strapped with a turret, blasting his way through droves of vehicular enemies. That should be all you need to know. But I suppose the guy also has a big heart; he's very religious, named his Spartan Laser "Vera", and acts more often like a gentle giant taking care of his squad mates.
Our Depiction Overview [How he will be presented in our film]:
Many of the lines featured in the film will be borrowed from the game in order to refresh the audience on the events that took place. However, Dutch will also play a decent role in one of the later segments, since he's involved in a later mission involving rebel insurgents. In that section of the story he busts down a door in true Dutch fashion.
How He Sounds
His voice as it's depicted in the official media can be heard in its entirety in this video;

Dutch seems to have an average American accent, with a mild hint of southern, he has a deeper register and a rougher sound.
Ultimately though, I'm open to hear different interpretations of his character as well as attempts at matching his voice.
I look forward to hearing your auditions!!

What did she just say?! Radiation! E-M-P! Losing power!
[Whispered/Quiet] Gunny, we're in position. ... [The door bursts open] Drop the weapon!
Hey there! Thanks for auditioning! I could definitely hear a bit of Dutch in this submission, really solid go at his voice.
My one concern might be in the realm of audio quality... especially when it comes to a bit of clipping here and there.
Though it is a somewhat smaller role, and additionally, most of his lines except the last sample line I provided are over comms/radio and will therefore need a bit of choppiness. So I will still definitely consider you for this role!
Overall, aside from that one thing I noticed, you got the voice in the right place definitely, I appreciate your interest in the project and I'll shortlist you to keep you in mind while I hear from other VAs!
Thank you for the comment. The audio quality is something ive been working on constantly. I am actually buying a new mic this weekend. If you want to hear from me again with a newer mic i will definatly send you something asap. Thank u for the message and goodnight.
That would be awesome actually if you're able! Thanks so much! Goodnight to you as well!
I am happy to inform you that i have my new mic all hooked up and ready to go! If you still want me to send you something, so you can hear my voice at better quality; let me know where i can send it to you, and i will get it to you asap. take care have a good night.
I would definitely be keen on hearing a new audition with the new mic if you're happy to record something new! By the sounds of your voice in this it sounds like Dutch would be your most suited character, but that being said I'd be happy to hear you try any other characters you think you might be able to do! Thanks so much!
