The Crying Child Series
Alicia S for Lazari Swan
Character: Lazari
Voice Type: Young female (teen range), soft, slightly breathy tone
Personality:Lazari is socially awkward and emotionally underdeveloped due to her upbringing. She tries to act normal but doesn’t fully understand how. She isn’t intentionally creepy—her unsettling nature comes from how casually she says things that shouldn’t be normal.
Performance Direction:
- Natural, slightly hesitant delivery
- Occasional stutters or pauses (not overdone)
- Soft-spoken, but not weak
- Casual tone even when saying disturbing or unusual things
- Avoid exaggerated “anime” acting—keep it grounded and real
Important:The character should feel like she’s trying to be normal, rather than obviously strange.

1. (soft, confused, just waking up) “Um… hi… I didn’t think anyone would still be here…”
2. (casual, unintentionally unsettling) “I don’t really remember what happened… but I think I made a mess again.”

Hey, I really liked your take on Lazari—you did a really good job capturing that “trying to be normal” feeling, and the hesitation and awkwardness fit the character well.
If I had a couple notes, I think pulling it back slightly in places could help it feel more natural, so it doesn’t come across as too intentional. Also letting some of the lines sound a bit more casual—like she doesn’t realize they’re strange—could make it even stronger.
But yeah overall really good direction 👍
