Gerald is the main protagonist of the story. He is dramatic, silly, and determined to reach his goals no matter what obstacles he faces. He wants to make new friends, but his insecurities of feeling different gets in the way and he feels like he must make a grand gesture to get people to like him. Despite his determination, he is not very logical and makes impulsive decisions.

(normal voice) I think I would like to give badminton a try because it seems really interesting! (Quietly) and if everyone likes me after I get good at it, that’ll only be a side effect!
