Kronk starts as Yzma's loyal assistant, regardless of her constant abuse, helping her where she's too old or unwilling to do things herself. He is often shown to be oblivious, devoid of common sense or otherwise not very intelligent (although he has made some surprisingly smart points at certain times), which leaves him easily susceptible to Yzma's orders. Despite working for Yzma, Kronk is a genuinely kind person, and enjoys helping those around him. His loyalty to Yzma seems to stem largely from being a people pleaser, regardless of the people in question. He also occasionally disobeys Yzma whenever he finds her commands to be too cruel, like when he is told to kill Kuzco by throwing him off the waterfall, but he instead chooses to save Kuzco's life.
